again, i'm lauren simonetti in for liz claman. fox market alert, another day of very choppy trading as investors try to decipher what the strong jobs report released this morning really means for investors on wall street and for borrowers on main street. take a look, you can see the dow's up 63 points, the tech-heavy nasdaq up 27, and the russell 2000, small caps, just slipped into the green. it's up a solid point right now. so you're seeing growth stocks do okay, you're seeing small caps do okay right now, somewhat broad-based gains. back to that jobs report that has everybody kind of just with question marks over their heads right now as the u.s. economy did add, look at that, 372 the ,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in june. that beat expectations by more than 100,000. june's number was just 12,000 less than we saw in may, and the unemployment rate on the right of your screen, that stayeded at 3.6, unchanged from may. investor reaction, well, wavering between gains and hases, seeming to echo doubts about the future strength of the eco

i'm cheryl casone in for liz claman. we begin with the fox market alert as investors seem to be trading with trepidation lately. things are looking a little more confident today. dare i say that? the dow, the s&p, the nasdaq and thes are el all in the -- russell all in the green, dow up 318, barely off of session highs, s&p up 56, nasdaq up 255, and you can see the russell is up by 42, a gain of 2.5. very strong -- 2.5%. very strong performance, but with wall street on edge, tomorrow's jobs report could make major market waves. analysts are expecting 268,000 nonfarm payrolls added last month. that would be a drop from the 390,000 that we got for may but still a sign of a strong labor market. in fact, this is really a sign of the a tight labor market. today's weekly jobless claims report nudged higher than anticipated just slightly. job placement firm challenger gray and christmas reporting planned layoffs, soared 57% from may to june. all of this ahead, again, of the june jobs report, we yet that report tomorrow morning

i'm cheryl casone in for liz claman and i'll turn these markets around. we're starting though can breaking news. netflix says it has selected microsoft as a tech and sales partner for its planned ad- supported subscription offering. netflix back in april had said it was looking at a service with advertising after losing subscribers for the first time in a decade, projecting a 2 million decline for q 2. well, the giant reports after the bell tuesday, the stock is down 70% year-to-date. it's up 2% right now, microsoft slightly lower. a fox market alert right now markets are scrambling after we got that very hot inflation report this morning. the dow dropping 300 points right at the open. now, the dow has turned around. we are down only 61 points. again, off of session lows. yields of the 10 year treasury served, surged excuse me, above the 3% mark with the yield curve inversion between 10 year and two year, the 10 to the two reaching its biggest point since 2000. that's a little bit of a red flag for a lot of folks. now, the consumer price index rose 9.1% y
