. >> i'm dave clark. >>> we begin with breaking news. fast-moving wildfire pushed by strong wind force mandatory evacuation east of geyserville in the northeastern part of sonoma county. there is a map of the area. more than 15 square miles of burn pit authorities say it's burning at a dangerous rate. it's called the kincade fire because it started a long kincade road near the geysers geothermal field with 60 miles per hour wind. you are taking a look at some of the video of howse peak how big this fire is. pilots said the wind was too rough but they do plan to get back in the air as soon as the sun comes up. >> we are getting aircraft ready in anticipation of when the wind does die down we can get aircraft and helicopter in there as quickly as possible. >> the area under evacuation includes hundreds of homes and the river rock casino. evacuation warnings have been issued for parts of healdsburg and geysers bill. flames are expected to approach vineyards on the eastern edge of alexander valley. evacuation centers are open at windsor high

. >>> i'm dave clark. >>> the kincade fire has now burned 116 square miles, an area twice as big as the city of oakland and only 15% contained. it grew through the night, but at a slower pace because the wind was not as strong. there are evacuation orders and warnings in sonoma, napa and lake county. 90,000 buildings are in danger with 80,000 homes. strong wind expected to kick up again later today, major concerns about how much more damage can be done. >> the wind is changing and getting into the red flag warning northeast flow and it will increase that fire behavior to levels that we saw when this fire initially began. >> we want to show you a map of sonoma county and the areas affected by the kincade fire. take a look at the red portion, that's where the fire is actively burning in the purple area shows where there are mandatory evacuation orders, including healdsburg and windsor. the blue zone indicates places like guerneville, sevastopol, bodega bay and occidental, where people are told to return home. they have been told there is still an evacuation warning in effect and they shou

thursday, october 3 .i'm dave clark. >> i'm pam cook. still following breaking news in san francisco where four people were killed. a wrong- way driver crashed overnight into a taxi on highway 101 near paul avenue in san francisco. >> chp said the driver of the volkswagen was going the wrong way near paul avenue around 12:30 am when she slammed into the taxi. the woman driving the volkswagen is described as being between 30 and 40 years old. the cab driver described as a man in his 60s. the two other victims were a male and female passenger in the taxi, all were pronounced dead.

. >> i'm dave clark. we have better news to start this morning for thousands of bay area pg&e customers. pg&e a couple of hours ago canceled the public safety power shutoffs and alameda, contra costa, santa clara, santa cruz in san mateo county because the wind condition is better. pg&e now says that there is no need to turn off power to 30,000 customers in those areas . that reduces the number of customers affected to a half- million. and 22 counties including lake, marin, napa, sonoma and solano county. >>> this morning cal fire crews battling the kincade fire are reporting they did not have to deal with the wind as strong as originally forecast in the high wind advisory has been canceled. officials say that could lead to better than expected containment numbers this morning once they have a chance to analyze the work ground crews were able to do overnight. the last report shows the fire had burned nearly 119 square miles. it is 50% contained, holding steady there. 189 homes and businesses destroyed. >>

. >> i'm dave clark. thousands and northern california are starting this wednesday morning with no power. just after midnight pg&e started shutting off power to customers in parts of northern california and its public safety power shut off program. the first outages took place near the oregon border and in the north bay counties and more power shutoffs are expected later today. and caltrans took action that will affect the morning commute. giant generators were brought into the caldecott tunnel, a major traffic route to the east bay. caltrans is using it to keep the tunnel lights and fans on or risk a traffic nightmare. >> the tunnels themselves have very large fans that circulate to make sure the exhaust from the cars are actually taken out of the tunnels. >> caltrans first thought some of the four boers in the tunnel would have to be shut down but bringing in those generators may correct that problem . >>> the tunnel on highway 1 near pacifico is also open this morning. there were concerns about that cl
