claudia cowan outside of williams home near san francisco where tribute are pouring in from around the world. claudia? >> jenna, people here are in shock, remembering their famous funny neighbor as a man who always made them smile. many paying their respects, leaving card and flowers here outside of the home where he died and where he had lived for many years with his wife susan. still not clear who found his body or who called 911 yesterday but when paramedic dids arrived just a few minutes before noon, he was unresponsive and pronounced dead a few minutes after noon. the award-winning actor and comedian was fixture in the bay area. he made many films here, including "mrs. doubtfire" and bicentennial man. performed at local comedy clubs and freakily seen dining out. he did a lot of philanthropy work, supporting troops overseas and raising millions to help the homeless with comic relief charities of the entertainment world is in shock. many expressing their feelings in statements on twitter like this one from mrs. doubt fire co-star sally field. he made people laugh his whole lifelong.

eric: claudia cowan has more. how is the recovery going this morning? >> reporter: slow and go. obviously everyone here hoping to get back on their feet as soon as possible. when you see the damage to the napa historical society you know full recovery will take many, many months, even if these old buildings can be rebuilt at all. this building dates back to 1901. a team of even spectors and out to assess the damage, re tagging buildings. tourism official are the trying to get the word out that most of this wine country is just fine and they want visitors to come and enjoy the tasting rooms, restaurants and resorts. signists say this quake was a wakeup call. had it struck during the day or been on a major faulty like the san andreas it could be been worse. , there was a 10-second watching before the ground shook. they say it could be costly bringing it to the public but it could be worth it with the big one looming in california's future. >> you could shut off the fast line or manufacturing lines. there is a life safety and economic benefit from having this system in place. >> re

claudia cowan is live in napa valley. today is about cleanup but how is that going to go, claudia? >> reporter: you can see how much work there is to do. we are standing amid the rubble in napa's downtown where many of the historic buildings suffered tremendous damage. they have lost facades and windows. the bricks lying here in the street. more than a dozen structures have been red-tagged, meaning they're too dangerous. a strong aftershock could knock them down. today a small army of state and local inspectors will fan out to surrounding communities. we're told 90 to 100 homes in the quake zone have been red-tagged due to quake damage. >> broken windows, those kind of things. others are full collapse, where you've seen, for example, a carport literally dropped to the vehicles below it. staircases that have separated from the building so you can't get into the building. we have had some structural fires as well. it, the range is pretty broad. >> reporter: meantime wine makers in this world famous grape-growing region are taking stocks of their losses. broken bottles and barrels mad
