good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, pam. yes, authorities have been racking their brains trying to figure out where debbie could be. her family on the east coast is doing the same thing. and it's both been frustrating and heartbreaking for them. i did just talk to debbie's cousin who lives on the east coast. just within the last hour about what's been going on in her life recently. she's been following the search efforts from there trying to follow online to what's going on here. she describes her cousin as bubbly, independent, optimistic and says she's been floored by her disappearance. according to her cousin it's been a tough year with several close family members dying unexpectedly. but through it all her cousin has stayed strong and was her usual self. in the past few months things have gotten more difficult at home. she is married with an 8th grade son. the marriage had been in trouble for at least the past few months. >> i asked her how are you doing and i said some of your e- mails are vague and short. and she said t

good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning. police are searching for the shooter or shooters. six vick times are -- victims are in the hospital. i want to give you perspective where this happened. if you take a look down d- street you can see the van down there. police spent the night coming the area for evidence. that's where they believe the initial round of shots were fired from. if you look over to 89th street, you can see broken glass on the street. that's where most of the victims were hit. they were standing near or in a car there. behind the car was a house where an innocent victim was hit by a stray bullet. this is what the scene looked like minutes after the shooting. victims had scattered when the shots were fired and showing up at multiple locations looking for help. you had multiple shots fired, six victims, and an unknown number of suspects. we talked to one neighbor. what did it sound like? >> i don't know how to describable it. >> reporter: you heard multiple times. >> yeah. two things. this one is too much like

claudine wong has more. >> reporter: good morning.expect them to give us the full picture. we do expect some data. there's not enough of it right now. we're on university avenue as you approach the bridge. we came here because the only information we have so far about congestion pricing comes from this area. university avenue down to the bridge. numbers from here say the commute has gone from about 27 minutes to 23 minutes since the congestion pricing went into effect. that's a four-minute i mprovement. it's still hard to say if computers are noticing. remember, the idea behind congestion pricing is, if you raise tolls during peak hours, in this case, 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., then fewer people will hit the roads during that time and the commute should get easier. is it working? here's what computers -- c ompute -- computers told us. there seems to be less, there are a few less cars but you still have the same regulars. >> it's less congestion. i mean everything at this time of the day, i don't see as many people as before for sure. it

good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we're in marin county because this is where searchers have focused their efforts. they were in and around ross where she liked to hike but they came up empty. there's word they might turn their attention to san francisco. i asked police yesterday when the search was underway was there anything in her life that may be part of her disappearance. they said no. but overnight new information came out that may be telling a different story. according to the marin ij there was some significant events in her life. her husband with whom she has a son filed for divorce on january 11. three of her close relatives have passed away in the past eight months. we know from police that her husband and son were out of town when she went missing. whether these recent events had anything to do with her disappearance still unclear. but as you imagine everything is on the table. it's really a guessing game at this point to where she might be. her car and belongings are at her ross home. and that is why poli

as ktvu's claudine wong reports, california's tire financial situation is expected to take center stage. >> reporter: expect governor brown to talk budget tomorrow, but for his budget to work, he needs to extend expired or expiring income, car and sales taxes. and he won't do it without voter approval. >> i do agree with that. we have to take care of the budget. >> taxes is really not that bad. >> reporter: a recent poll says there is support and if there is a guarantee that those dollars will go to things, like, education. >> if they could say that and keep their word, i would absolutely support it. >> reporter: what brown says he won't talk about tomorrow is what happens if he doesn't have support we caught up with state senator leno in san francisco to ask him about the state of the state. leno says even if we don't hear the worst-case scenario in tomorrow's speech, says we will hear a lot about it it in the coming months. leno says the governor wants to reason with voters. >> the governor may use the platform to talk about the importance of letting the voters have a say. >> reporter

good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yes, the idea behind this congestion toll pricing is pretty simple. if you raise a toll during the peak time, more people avoid those times and drive in the nonpeak times and that will make traffic move easier. is it working? it just depends on who you ask. today we are expected to get a report from uc berkeley on whether this toll congestion pricing is actually making a difference. now keep in mind when all this started back in july the bay area toll authority said they had hoped that this would all drop commute traffic by 20% to 30% in those peak hours. since then they have said they have seen a drop of about 15% when you compare the last six months with 2009. what they did is hired uc berkeley a $250,000 contract and said take a very close look at this and tell us what you think. today the meeting's being held at 9:00 this morning. that's when we'll get a good idea of whether or not it's been working or not. there have been conflicting reports of whether it's making a dramatic diff

welcome back to mornings on two, i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm mike mibach.egypt, thousands of demonstrators are once again going to the streets. ktvu's allie rasmus is live. >> reporter: the director of this mosque here in oakland says 25 to 30 of the people who regularly pray here are either from egypt or have family in egypt and obviously they are following the events going on in that country very closely. many flights right now are cancelled out of cairo's airport. the state department is recommending all americans in egypt should leave the country. today marks the fifth day of protest in egypt. he has been the president there for nearly three decades. and protesters believe he is a corrupt dictator and are calling for reform to the egyptian government. we spoke to an egyptian man this morning. he says he thinks a lack of economic opportunity in his native country is what's behind the frustration. >> i am in a position with egypt. i came to america because there is no future back there. so that's the issue of all this. unemployment is incredible. >> now s

welcome back to mornings on 2 everyone i'm mike mibach. >> and i'm claudine wong.the shooting happened near where a high school dance was taking place. allie rasmus is here to explain why the man tried to attack police. >> reporter: the building where that dance was taking place, was just up the road. but it was on on this road where the car was stopped. police were patrolling the area because of the dance that was going on. they pulled over what they described as a suspicious vehicle around 9:30 last night. a passenger in the car got in a fight with the officer according to police. and police say the man then stabbed that officer with a screwdriver. the officer wasn't hurt because he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. but the officer did open fire and fatally shot the man in the vehicle. police say after the shooting, they discovered the car they had been driving was stolen, and that the passenger inside that vehicle they pulled over had a handgun. >> tonight is a perfect example why we provide security at these events. you had a man armed with a handgun at the peri

i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm mike mibach. police say a suspected drunk driver slammed into a bar injurying several people. it happened on francisco boulevard right near highway 1. one victim was pinned under the truck. witnesses say the woman left the bar about closing time when she got into her truck and drove it into the bar. it is still not clear what exactly led up to that crash. >>> in just a few hours search teams will return to a canal near patterson. late yesterday drivers removed a car from the water but there's no signs of the missing boy or his suspected kidnapping. allie rasmus joins us now from the family home. >> reporter: you can see there's a sheriff deputy vehicle along with a red cross tent. some people have set up a fire out here because it is quite cold. the red cross and law enforcement personnel have had a presence out here in front of the family home for the past week when this search really started intensifying. if we step over. i don't know if you can see from where we're standing. if we zoom into the
