changes tonight and through the weekend. that artery is going to be shut down at 8:00 tonight so traffic can be moved on to a temporary bypass. ktvu's claudine wong in studio now to tell us more about the project and how you can get around all of this. claudine? >> well, dave, it is going to be a big issue for drivers who use doyle drive. right now the drivers are some of the last to be using that. the heavy machinery is already in place and starting at 8:00 tonight, doyle drive, as we know it, will shut down for good to make room for a seismically safe roadway. a lot of work needs to be done to make all of those changes. so crews are going to move traffic on to a temporary bypass. to make that transition, however, you have to shut down traffic through doyle drive which is, of course, a major artery linking san francisco to the north bay. drivers are being warned to plan for heavy traffic in the area while the transition is being made. your best advice is just to avoid the area if you can. if you can't avoid it and you still need to get in, you can but here's how that trip inened out of the city is going to -- in and out of the city is going
