claudine wong is there and she is back with us on the very latest, what is going on claudine wong?them up on that hillside and they are moving a second piano out of the plaza and those pianos have been placed at the top of the steps. if you take a look, you can see police officers are still in riot gear standing guard making sure nobody gets back in while they get this area cleaned up and back into service by the time the school day is started and school is back in business. we will show you what happened as it all happened from a student protesters, he stayed in there as lop as he could. there were 20 at the time and most people left peace fully within that five minute window. two thirds of the tents were taken away however several people were arrested. you can see a man holding and cat and protesters tell us that man's name is alex and he decided along with one other person not to leave when police told him to leave. he was taken into custody and one person said they shoulden arrested dash. >> they wanted to be arrested and failed to comply with the special order, and currently t

ktvu claudine wong is in vallejo right now with details. claudine. >> reporter: dave, one more flower just laid down at this memorial by a woman who says her heart is breaking for the vallejo police department and the family for officer capoot. this will be a difficult day. this is a small department. there is no one not effected by the loss of officer capoot. yet the work continues. officers on the job, staff here has come to work. we just saw a woman that came in on her day off to do her part for her department that is mourning the man that was topnotch. he was on swats, he was in the motor unit, he was involved as a coach and had multiple awards for courage and facing down armed suspects. investigators are piecing together what happened yesterday in his final act of bravery in the line of duty. we know he chased down a suspected bank robber. cutting the suspect car off. chasing the suspect on foot. it was during that chase that officer capoot lost his life when he was fatally shot. this morning we talked to a woman who's father was the po

claudine wong is at san francisco justin herman plaza this morning to tell us about mayor ed lee's new plan. >> reporter: there is talk about a possible move, but at this hour justin herman plaza remains status quo. you can see the tents remain. about 200 tents about 300 to 400 people inside that encampment. a couple officers here as well as down market street. the barricades remain as you can see in the spots where they have removed occupy encampments. we have seen at various times of the night three different police cars poxed along market street preventing anyone returning to those locations. i want to show you video from 1:00 this morning. police quickly moved in and took that tent away. it's unclear if the man was arrested or detained. the mayor has said the occupy tempts need to leave. the question is when and will they? this morning the chronicle reporting that the mayor's office is considering to try to relocate the camp from justin herman plaza to a site at mission and 15th which is the site of the old phoenix continuation school. they took some people over there and told prot

ktvu's claudine wong joins us from vallejo.a growing memorial for the fallen officer? >> reporter: that's right, people coming to the doors of the police department to lay down flowers and candles and cards. that flower right there with the dog and candle just laid down by a man who tried to talk to us, but got so upset he just couldn't even make the words come out. people today trying to come to terms with the loss of officer jim capoot. he was a veteran officer described which many as a leader, a man dedicated to his job. this morning the deputy with the solano county sheriff's department came as well to offer a prayer before he tried to put his grief aside and go back to work. >> dedicated police officer, out there doing his job, helping the community. just came by to pay my respects. >> capoot was remembered as an officer and also remembered for his commitment to the community. he was a basketball coach, mentor at vallejo high school and this morning students are struggling to make sense of what happened. >> cared about him

ktvu's claudine wong joins us live with more on this story. claudine? of these five accidents. five in the last five days. three people are dead. two are fighting for their lives. san jose police tell me this morning that the investigations are ongoing but they are warning people this morning, just everyone to be careful on the road. >> each individual case separately. there's no relation -- indication they are related to one another in any way. but this is the opportunity for us to remind everyone to be mindful of pedestrians, bicyclists and everyone else that shares the road. >> reporter: there were three accidents just last night. one happened at 6:46. a 54-year-old man was crossing the road when he was hit. seven minutes later, also on tally road, a 44-year-old cyclist was hit. both of those victims are fighting for their lives this morning. a few minutes before the accidents there was also a fatal accident on jackson. i want to show you video from the scene where you could still see the remnants from flairs on -- flares on the ground. a 67-year-old

claudine wong is out driving around looking at the visibility on bay area freeways. i know you are in benicia right now, claudine. how does it look? >> reporter: well, it's gone from some places. not from here. we stopped. we're high in the hills of ben near shaw -- benicia. this is a city socked in. we've been across the bay area, we've been on the richmond bridge, the the conditions are getting -- the conditions are getting a lot better in all of those areas. but if you are in high areas you will still see the fog. this is a shot of the benicia bridge. visibility is okay although the fog is still there. that's the good news in terms of getting out on the roads. it was a much different situation this morning when we were driving around. there were accidents, a lot of places where the fog got really thick and visibility was difficult. so at this point, driving around again back live here in be knee shaw, we just made our way down the hill. and as can see -- you can see, the -- we're gonna go closer to the hills near the berkeley area. not a lot of wind here in benicia

ktvu's claudine wong is downtown this morning. >> reporter: you can this morning they have a daily routine here kind of cleaning up as the day progresses. indications are coming from a couple different places that an end may be nearing for this encampment. first, the mayor issued a statement saying that local businesses are hurting, jobs are being lost and communication needs to be better between the protesters and the city. secondly, this morning the chronicle is reporting a source saying training exercises for oakland pd have been canceled. indication that cops may be making plans once again to clear out this camp. now, we also have a look at new video given to us by the oakland police department. this is a wide shot of this ins accident we have this from four different angles, and it shows a crowd of police officers making their way through really a mob of people. this is the day where the riots were in the city. it's a small group of police officers trying to make arrests. this is an area at 8th and washington in the downtown area. we have actually got a view as well from cameras that
