claudine wong has exclusive information on what handed out there. claudine? >> reporter: it started as a red light stop, the driver goes through a red light and keeps going until he gets to he is section and -- essex and folsom. i want to give you a look because you can see san francisco police are in the process of shutting down essex street. now the water has been shut off and we showed you that in the last half hour but there is a new problem. if we pan over here, take a look at the construction site. you can see the scaffolding is compromised with some of the metal beams going down. the firefighter said he is not sure if that is stable or if that structure is compromised so if they can get the construction guys out here to make sure that it's not about to fall, they have shut down this street and they don't know when it will reopen. let me show you video from when all of this happened because there was quite a mess out here. it was shotting an estimated 30 feet in the air and 50,000 gallons came out before they were able to shut it off. again it started w

claudine wong is just outside the oakland police department with what police are saying about what happened. claudine. >> reporter: right now the search is on for multiple shooters in this case. we don't know exactly what type of weapons were involved. police are not releasing that information. we do know the weapons were powerful enough to send one of the shots three blocks away from where it was fired where it hit an innocent bystander. all four victims are in serious condition. they are all at last expected to survive. multiple 911 calls came into police just after 10:20 last fight. police got to the 600 block of east 18th and found three victims in their 20s. two men and one woman. they were standing on the street when more than one shooter started firing and hit them. all three in serious condition but expected survive. police found another victim a man in his 50s. who was also hit by gunfire. >> right now he appears he's an intended target. just getting ready to do into the liquor store. when he was struck by gunfire. >> he was hit once and is expected to survive. the search is on for

claudine wong has new information about this case which is now an investigation, claudine? >> reporter: we can tell you now this newborn baby boy is in the hospital and at last word he is doing okay but we have also learned what police did in moments after arriving may have saved this baby's life. these are rumors we had heard about the police officers who arrived there. they dame here -- came here from the baby's station when they got a call about a woman asking for help and they had to perform cpr on route to the hospital and again that may have saved this baby's life. this started at 2:00 a.m. this morning and there is a shelter on that street and it belongs to a church and is open 24 hours but they have a locked gate. a woman came to that locked gate. he didn't want to go on camera, but here is what he said happened. >> she was crying. just looked like she was beaten up covered in blood and she said she just had a baby and i didn't see any baby in her hand, i go for help come back and she is walking off and that's when i called the police. >> reporter: now she apparentl

claudine wong is out there. are they getting close to reopening it yet, claudine? >> reporter: well, close, probably not but they are doing some important work right now. within the last half-hour since we last checked in with you, the crews for this scaffolding company have started to arrive. once the bus gets out of the way, you can see the work they are doing. what they told me they need to do is repair the collapsed bottom part of the scaffolding. once they do that -- and that could take a while -- then they will test it to make sure it is safe. if you pan across essex, you can see the entire area is shut down. that's because the fire department is out there. if there's any question about the structural integrity. this is entrance to the bay bridge. traffic at this point, just has to go around. let me show you video from this morning. it was about 3:0 that a san francisco police officer try -- 3:30 that a san francisco police officer tried to stop a vehicle. that vehicle hit the fire hydrant. now, the water went into the air about 30 feet were the estimates of

new at noon, ktvu's claudine wong joins us live to explain who is in custody and the team effort it took to track them down. good afternoon, claudine. >> reporter: good afternoon. three men from vallejo behind bars at this hour for a series of robberies that took place here at the toll plaza. the chp said the robbers would pull up to the booth in ski masks, get out of the car, pull out a weapon and demand money. it happened at least ten times, starting at the end of 2011 through may of 2012. an estimated 5,000 stolen. >> i think it was a crime of opportunity. >> reporter: this man says he figured out who the suspects were in august. david more rales was already behind bars for a different crime. christopher miller was arrested last wednesday in fair field. yesterday morning, 43-year-old robert white was arrested for a traffic stop in vallejo. napa found evidence of the robberies while serving search warrants in a different investigation. >> during the search warrants on those residences, we found evidence of other crimes in several different counties. >> we found associates of those peop

claudine wong has been out there since 4:30 how does it look now, claudine?> reporter: investigators are trying to figure out how much this costs. and their focus is on one section of the scaffolding and you can see it is collapsed right there. figuring out how long it will take and if the structure is safe, it will take awhile, they just said they have to wait for their truck and then they have to see if it's going to be safe. for now this section of essex which now leads to the bay bridge is going to be shut down and now i want to lead you to the video which caused this mess. it was a scene up about 3:30 and you can see that fire hydrant got knocked off by this vehicle and police say that vehicle ran a red light and when the police officer tried to stop the driver he took off. he hit that fire hydrant sent that water shooting up into the air. it caused a problem and it led to concerns over the scaffolding on this building and that's why the building remains shut down and the driver was in custody. we will have to see when the truck gets here but they told m

. >> i'm claudine wong. it's thursday, we want to start with breaking news we first reported at 4:30 this morning. the investigation is underway in a deadly police shooting in walnut creek. it happened hours ago and we are on creek side drive near 680 with the circumstances that led up to the shooting. >> reporter: police just wrapped up their latest briefing about 15, 20 minutes ago. we are getting new details, we have learned there are now multiple officers involved in this incident which wound up with an parent domestic violence suspect dead. investigators are still onto scene. the presence of police and sonoma -- contra kosta county deputies has decreased but we are learning that incident appears to have happened behind that brick fence you can see in the distance there. police say this may have started as a possible domestic violence incident that ended in gun fire. one suspect dead, nobody else hurt we have learned. we have learned the initial call came into 911 from a woman caller shortly before 3:15

welcome to mornings on 2 i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm -- and i'm mike mibach.apartment caught fire near interstate 280. allie rasmus is live for us there where it remain answer active scene. >> reporter: that is right. nearly ten hours after this fire happened there are still fire trucks and emergency vehicles parked at the end of this court temperature this is bridge port court. the building that caught fire is at the very end to the left and it's orb subbed the view is blocked where we are standing because of all the emergency vehicles. this fire claimed the lives of three family members including a small child. according to several family members the victims were two grandparents and granddaughter. this fire started around 11:00 last night and neighbors tell us the grandparents, mother, and father, and several other children all lived in the apartment unit together. some of the family members escaped. three had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation and according to fire spokesperson they are still in the hospital this morning. a san jose police officer
