our clayton sandell is there. good morning, clayton. >> reporter: good morning, sam. we know the roof of the metrodome is huge. ten acres of the surface area all covered by about 17 inches of snow. we wanted to know how much all that snow weighed. we asked an engineer to run the numbers for us. he calculated that there was enough snow that equaled almost 2,000 tons or around 4 million pounds. that's an unofficial estimate, but whatever the number, there was enough snow to literally bring down the huss. the house. the game, vikings and giants had to be moved to detroit. but the vikings are supposed to host the chicago bears here next monday night for "monday night football." officials are optimistic they'll have the metrodome fixed. but as can you see from the before and after pictures, sam, they've got a lot of work to do. >> those are incredible numbers, clayton, and incredible pictures. this arctic pipeline of air continueds into the deep south and there's much more to talk about that even into florida, right, george. >> that's right. we've got matt gutman in atlant

first as you can see moving out to the north of concord but still significant rainfall for them, clayton, swam vallejo and fairfield. that's the overall track. these are the heavier downpours and into fairfield and towards the stay city as well. we will move toward the santa cruz mountains. the heaviest rain moving in to san jose, right around allen rock and the moderate to heavy rainfall. we will move the maps closer to san francisco and also around oakland as we shift northward for san francisco and there is that yellow cell which corresponds to the heavier rain around 880, reports of minor flooding. no reports of urban and small stream flood advisory but that could be a factor in the short term and up in the north bay. santa rosa the most recent, reporting heavy rain and you can see the widespread rain from santa rosa toward sonoma and napa. this will be a -- factor. as far as tomorrow the weather pattern chase, especially toward the afternoon. >> the wind and rain has folks across the bay area driving slow and putting ono the rain coats. we are right there with them in the mountains.
