right now we're in clayton looking south at mt. diablo. you can see the fire continues to burn giving off that glow in this early morning dark sky. it is now burning up at the peak of mt. diablo where the old lookout building and beacon light are. we spoke with cal fire, they tell us they do not think the fire will damage or destroy that structure because there's a pretty big parking lot that separates it from the wildlands and they have enough resources to protect. the fire did grow overnight, almost doubled in size. yesterday the fire had burned 800 acres, right now it's at 1,500. still threatening 100 homes. it's only 10% contained. there are 300 firefighters on the scene. i spoke with the battalion chief. they ordered a lot more resources, as many as 300 more firefighters expected to come in as well as more engines, dozers and at 8:00 they will have more aircraft to dump water and retardant. they hope to have containment in a couple days. they have a good eight miles of fire lines to put down. what makes this fire so difficult as you w
