here's abc's clayton sendow. >> reporter: for six terrifying minutes this 11 year-old boy dangles withhe safety bar up he slid out trying to catch the ski pole. then that dramatic moment volunteer rescuers holding up a tarp and urging him to let go. >> wow. >> he was not hurt. >> reporter: although chair lift accidents are rare, ski resorts reminding riders this season about how to stay safe. >> you think you will drop something like a pole or a glove, it is best just to let that item drop and then somebody can go back around and pick it up for you. >> reporter: but sometimes there are mechanical failures like yesterday in west virginia, 25 people, fell, when the lift derailed dropping 30 feet, 100 skiers left stranded, rescuers using who are necessaryes to get them down. >> when you hit the ground everybody that didn't have have their safety bar down that got eject out. >> reporter: two needed extra medical attention for minor injuries. the timber line four seasons resort saying in a statement all lifts undergo thorough and rigorous inspections and they are in compliance with safety s
