anything but clear water here in clearwater beach, florida. tonight florida beginning to clear out. we're watching more active weather in orangeburg in, south carolina. look at that heavy rain just pelting the camera here. we got one more for you here in wilmington, north carolina. back here in baltimore, 66 right now on an east wind. here we are, heavy steady rains, we already laid down to a quarter to half inch of rain. we think several more inches is possible tomorrow. remember we had heavy rain in the last week as well. ground fairly saturated still and it certainly will be through the day tomorrow. winds are relatively calm now. very different storm for some of the hurricanes we dealt with in the past several years. remember tropical storms create some of the worse flooding. you have to give that a lot of respect. that flash flood watch today right through tomorrow. if i case, right now more rain continuing to move in up and down the east coast. we think several more waves of rain perhaps some of this will stay offshore but more rain lifting in out of the south as we go forward

you can see in clear wart beach it's -- clearwater beach, it's worth looking at. the gulf is normally a calm body of water. different camera angle. you get an idea of what it will like around maryland as you look at the time lapse. clouds have rolled in a few showers but not a heavy steady rain at least for the central part. hagerstown is getting heavy rain. you see that on the state radar angle to the west. pretty heavy bands. this rain is tapping all the way south. there's the frontal boundary pushing out of the west. you add it all together and we have the potential for the one to two inch rain tomorrow. the flash flood watch has been issued. we'll get the morning rain. that will mean the potential for flooding in low lying areas. the winds are benign. we could get gusty with the front pushing in. it doesn't look like a huge pressure gradient but it will be gusty at times. reduced visibility. this is why we think the morning commute will be a tough one. it's tough to see when you get the heavy steady rains. future trend, maps in motion. what type of morning wil

this is how it looked in clearwater yesterday. strong winds from the storm caused minor damage in sun city center and has spawned six tornado this morning. >> you have been tracking andrea's path? >> it is about to come ashore right now on the florida coast and it looks like it will be a flood maker and a tornado maker. nothing like you see in oklahoma, with tropical tornadoes tend to be small and short-lived but they are wrapped in rain so you cannot see them. radar is zoomed in on florida and the bands are working across florida and watch for the eye right there, moving toward the big bend area. so, tornadoes are a possible and the entire state of florida is under a tornado watch from now until 10:00, so, 7:00, our time. we have our own concern over our water where we are seeing sunshine, and live doppler 7 hd showing how dry the air that is moving in, as we speak which is why we see the sunshine quicker. the delta community has small craft advisory until 8:00. we have 6' to 8' waves and 10' 2012' breakers from now until 5:00 p.

our george howl is in clearwater, florida this morning with the conditions and it looks like as we watch the conditions deteriorate, it is getting tougher for to you report, george. >> reporter: ashley, absolutely. just a few minutes ago, we really had that wind coming in. we know that as this storm gets closer to us that center of circulation, we see sustained wend gusts -- wind gusts of 60 miles per hour, can get up to 70 at times, heim having to hold on to a few things for the make thur they don't blow away. yeah, these winds are picking up substantially out here. here's the thing, this is a more than tropical storm when you look at it. we're talking about flooding in different places. anywhere from three to six inches of flood water, but right now, we are seeing some streets flooded, but more than flooding is what we are seeing. then the storm surge is the other big concern, anywhere from one to three feet higher than the average the tide out here the high tide. so as the storm blows in, ashley, you can tell i'll having some trouble. we are seeing those stronger winds as they come he

george howell joins us live by phone from clearwater. how do things like right now. >> reporter: good morning. this is definitely a rainmaker. a lot of heavy rain coming down. so much to the point where we've had a trouble getting a live signal out. a lot of rain coming down from this storm right now. as you mentioned, the most immediate concern right now is the tornadic activity, rotation that started in the adamsville area, moved up the i-75 corridor and then headed towards tampa itself. again, meteorologists are tracking this rotation. they say that they believe a tornado touched ground from time to time, the local meteorologist, if you live in this area, important to have that noaa weather radio handy, also to monitor the local affiliate coverage and this coverage as we continue to cover the storm, john. here's the thing. it's a weak tropical storm, certainly. but a lot of rain coming down from the storm. they think it could drop anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rainfall, could cause coastal flooding and a storm surge at least 1 to 3 f

george howell is in clearwater for us. good morning, george. >> good morning. for the most part this is a rain event. we are getting a lot of rain coming in. believe it or not, we are at a bit of a lull. the biggest line of storms moved through an hour ago through this area. there was -- there were reports of tornadoes, tornadic activity. also concern about water spouts on that line of storms. now we are in this lull. when you look at the radar you see another line of storms coming our way. from what i can tell it's two hours out. that's where we'll see more of the rainfall, torrential rainfall. gusty winds. we know wind gusts can get up to 40 miles per hour plus in the storm. keep in mind this is a minor tropical storm but still bringing a lot of rainfall to the area. already causing some flooding in spots, christine. >> a lot of tourists in the area this time of year. i imagine people are told to beware of hitting the beaches. >> yeah. absolutely. you look out and you see the water choppy. you don't want to be out there especially on the gulf side. life guard
