you can see in clear wart beach it's -- clearwater beach, it's worth looking at. the gulf is normally a calm body of water. different camera angle. you get an idea of what it will like around maryland as you look at the time lapse. clouds have rolled in a few showers but not a heavy steady rain at least for the central part. hagerstown is getting heavy rain. you see that on the state radar angle to the west. pretty heavy bands. this rain is tapping all the way south. there's the frontal boundary pushing out of the west. you add it all together and we have the potential for the one to two inch rain tomorrow. the flash flood watch has been issued. we'll get the morning rain. that will mean the potential for flooding in low lying areas. the winds are benign. we could get gusty with the front pushing in. it doesn't look like a huge pressure gradient but it will be gusty at times. reduced visibility. this is why we think the morning commute will be a tough one. it's tough to see when you get the heavy steady rains. future trend, maps in motion. what type of morning wil

cnn's george howell joins us on the phone from clearwater beach, florida. give us some semblance of what it's like. how are you doing? >> christi, we see winds pick up, anywhere from 60 miles per hour to gust up to 70 miles per hour what wean according to the national hurricane center, the storm will not get up to hurricane strength. mainly what we're seeing here, it's a rainmaker, torrential rainfall. comes and goes. bands come across the area a few hours back. a big heavy band that had tornadic activity. keep in mind, talking about tornadoes a lot. especially in oklahoma. these tornadoes are not nearly as strong. but definitely tornadoes associated with the bands, another big band right now here in the tampa area, and it will stay like this for some time. for the next selseveral hours. a lot of rain, localized flooding. but a lot of rain today. >> okay. hope it continues to be nothing major. we know the folks down there know how to handle it. thank you so much. stay safe to you and your crew there. >>> you heard about michael jackson's only daughter, reco

this is a live picture from clearwater beach. they are in a tropical storm warning and the beach could pick up a big 2-4 inches of rain easily and wind gusts between said -- -- up to 60 miles per hour. the storm as well offshore with maximum winds of 60 miles per hour but still not that great of an organized system. the clouds are already stretching across much of the southeast. the rain will not get around here until late tonight or tomorrow. the track of the storm is expected to move through the carolinas today and by tomorrow it will be right on our doorstep. was it makes landfall, it will get caught in an upper level system and accelerate. it will be a quick moving storm and that should help diminish our flood threat. we still have a question mark on the exact track it will take. there is the account of on certainty. -- the cone of uncertainty. we could see minimal impact in d.c. if it veers toward the east. it should become an extra tropical system so it is really a rainmaker but we're not worried about the wind. plans for a
