msnbc contributor steve clemens joins us now. washington's editor at large for "the atlantic."claims they shot down this plane. but regardless, they now have a jordanian pilot in their custody. how does that change things for coalition forces in this ongoing campaign? >> well, i think isis has shown it's able to demonstrate the horror that it brings to this arena by putting faces on these horrible crimes. and you're going to have jordanian citizens, an important coalition partner of the united states that worry about that. this is the nightmare that any -- that happens in wars and it happens more often than we may think. but isis is very good at social media of essentially trying to hold a nation hostage. i think the one thing that hasn't been said lately, despite the moment of success for isis, the real story of isis right now in the region is its juggernaut expansion has been checked back. and there have been more losses that isis has recently experienced than gains. and we've seen that in northern iraq, we've seen that in sinjar mountain. we have a lot of successes against i
