we still do not have any reason to know if the tom clements murder is connected to the kaufman countyr's murders. authorities in colorado are looking for these two guys. they're looking for these two other men in connection to the murder of the colorado prison's chief, tom clements. investigators have not said what role these two men might have played in the killing, if any, or why they are being sought. but believe these two men had contact with the suspect in the tom clements case before he was killed in texas. they say also those two guys are associated with the same racist prison gang, the 211s. in less than three months, three law enforcimment officials gunned down, two from the same small texas county. nobody knows if these three killings are linked. one suspect has been caught in the colorado case, but largely because he is dead. nobody knows why he did what he did or whether he worked with anybody else to do it. there are new details being ferreted out in these cases every day, though. watch this space. they say legs, on was killed two days before clements. the jon: the case has prompted the governor to call for investigations? >> reporter: yes it will be two fold. it will take a critical look at the way eve van ebel was released from prison and how authorities lost track of of him once he was on patrol. john hickenlooper ordered an audit of all prison inmate sentences to assure they are serving the right amount of time. evan ebel was let go four years too soon accidentally. there will be an independent review of the parole process, this after ebel removed his monitoring device and his parole officer lost contact. >> i can tell you the officer that was responsible for evan ebel's supervision is an outstanding officer, and i will stand here before you and tell you that we have found nothing that has brought -- been brought to my attention with regard to any deficiencies in his management of the offender population. >> reporter: the department of corrections here says this is going to be an extensive process, as you can imagine, because, j

there's still no motive for the tom clements killing, but they say bomb making materials were found in the suspect's car. after he allegedly shot the prison's chief in colorado, where was he heading with the bomb making materials when he was driving through texas? in any case, that shootout was march 21st. the prison's chief was killed the 19th. the shootout that killed the suspect was the 21st in decatur, texas. six weeks earlier in kaufman, texas, about 100 miles away from decatur, another utterly mysterious killing of a public official. in this case, an assistant district attorney, so a prosecutor for kaufman county. kaufman county is a small county, only about 100,000 people outside of dallas. what made the killing stand out at the time it happened is how for a lack of a better word, i guess, is how professional the killer or killers seemed in this shooting. the assistant d.a., mark hasse, parked his car in a parking lot about a block away from the county courthouse where he was working. a sudan reportedly pulled up alongside him, either one or two people got out of the sudan and s
