a fatal confrontation happened in cleone a few miles north of ft. bragg. ricky del fiorentino was killed when hi drove up on a man suspected of a kidnapping in oregon. the ft. bragg police officer heard the shots and found the suspect. the two exchanged fire and the sheriff says a ft. bragg police lieutenant killed the man. it started in eugene, oregon where the suspect killed two people, took their black bmw, put them in the trunk and headed south. when the car was spotted a high-speed chase was started. with the owners of the car in the trunk. it ended on highway 1 at cleone. at some point the people in the trunk got out. they are safe. there was manhunt on the ground and from the air. according to law enforcement, cheney was chaste dressed in cam mow gear and found with to 2:00 assault rifles and double barrelled shot guchblt students were held at their schools. that part of highway 1 was closed to traffic. it has since reopened. the deputy who was killed was with the men doe seen know county police department. we will have more as it develops in this n
