in cleveland's history. my entire city council were democrats. george and i first met when our children attended the major works program in the cleveland public school system. who would have guessed that we would become the tag team that turned cleveland around after it became the first major city to go into bankruptcy? i was pummelled, pummelled by the media on occasion in regard to who was actually running city hall? my answer was both of us. forbes and i worked together as friends and partners. one of the great satisfactions when i left the job of mayor was "usa today" highlighted both of us, the tall african-american democrat big george and the short white republican little george working together to bring about cleveland's renaissance. in columbus, i found a worthy adversary when i was governor in democrat vern wright who was speaker of the house for my first four years as ohio governor. my office was on the 30th floor of the building named after wright while he was still alive and serving an unpreceden

cleveland could get another nine inches today.lmost two fweeet is already on the ground, and a winter storm warning is in effect until tomorrow morning. mike seidel is just outside of cleveland with an update. >> hi, tamron. it's another bitter cold day across northeast ohio and across all the great lakes, but the lake-effect is finally backing off around cleveland. it's starting to wrap up around south bend in those areas. we had one report of as much as 31 inches over the past few days. meanwhile, i-90 not looking too bad. better than last night. we drove through a white-out that was white-knuckle driving. we still have snow and blowing snow. but getg from buffalo to erie to cleveland, back and forth, is improving. we'll see a better day tomorrow with sunshine. that will start to dry off these roadways. in the mane time, it's the bitter cold. windchills around zero. temperatures will stay in the upper teens to around 20. that's almost 20 degrees below average. and although the lake-effect will end here, and end late tomorrow aro

i mean, he was a legend in cleveland. his statue is the only professional athlete statue in cleveland. and right outside jacob field. on jacob's field on east 9th street, you can see bob feller's statue with his famous windup. and when you go to an indians game in -- in the new ballpark, progressive field -- new, it's now more than 15 years old -- when you go to the ballpark, people always say, i'll meet you at the bob feller statue. that's sort of the place where you meet up with your friends and get your tickets and all of that. so he brought great joy to so many, like my father. he was perhaps the greatest pitcher that ever lived. and he died at the age of 92 in gates mill, survived by his wife anne, his children steve, martin and bruce. and i was proud to have gotten to speak a number of times with bob feller. i don't pretend to have known him well but he was always a major presence in cleveland baseball and a major presence in cleveland civic life and we are all grateful to him and indebted to him for his service to
