i want to get to last night's results but first you're actually in cleveland this morning, because joeiden and bernie sanders, they were both supposed to hold rallies there. but they got cancelled. so talk us through that. >> yeah, yasmin, it feels like this is potentially a new reality, campaigning at the time of coronavirus. because both bernie sanders and joe biden were supposed to be here in ohio looking ahead to states that have yet to vote but will vote in the near future. instead, both of those campaigns separately made the decision after talking with local officials on the ground. to cancel their rallies here. instead, flying back to -- in bernie sanders' case, burling n burlington, vermont ajoe biden. and how you show leadership amidst the public health crisis, both of these campaigns have to show how they would contend with this crisis if they were the ones sitting in the white house. as we go forward, the thing i'm the most stunned by, this is not the first time an external crisis have impacted the 2020 race. i think specifically back in january when the senators were sideli

the cleveland clinic is stressing that this is not a new test that it's conducting.s merely eliminating the need for off site testing. previously they were relying on private companies such as quest diagnostics, lab corp. that normally would take four to seven days. the cleveland clinic says that by doing this in-house it will be able to have test results within 8 hours and the ceo tells me that that could be a game changing or battling the coronavirus. he says it will save lives by getting these answers faster, but yasmin, this raises the question, why wasn't this happening sooner. why didn't private companies and private labs weeks ago start with this? we spoke with -- nbc news spoke with a doctor at the university of north carolina saying that the red tape that they have had to face while trying to get approval to be doing these tests has really put them back, that they would like to be doing hundreds of tests a day but they haven't been able to do so. some of these labs have said that they wanted to start conducting these tests back in mid january but that the fe

jacqui heinrich's live in cleveland as well. good evening, jackie. >> good evening, bret. senator sanders will not be addressing voters after those projected losses. there is a somber mood within the campaign. michigan obviously coming as a blow. this is a symbolic state that he wanted to win like in 2016 where he pulled out a win over hillary clinton. it was an upset victory, it marked a moment for his electability. at the state did not produce the same results for him tonight and that is coming as a seat huge of disappointment his campaign. coronavirus concerns canceled his rally or one state over here in cleveland tonight, it didn't appear to impact voting in michigan. sanders campaign encouraged election officials to address long lines at polling locations, urging them to keep polls open longer if necessary, but the same white college-educated voters that give sanders a win in 2016 this time favored biden, who won with a broad coalition of men and women, black, white, suburban and rural voters. sanders' losses in missouri and mississippi were more protectable and a rep

host: evelyn, thank you for the call, from cleveland, ohio.he sanders and biden campaign scrubbing appearances tonight at the request of governor dewine and others in ohio. the biden campaign is heading back to his headquarters not far from wilmington, delaware. we will not be hearing from senator bernie sanders, who is ahead right now in one of the six states with primaries or caucuses. senator sanders is ahead in north dakota. let's look at the results. in michigan the results were called shortly after 9:00 eastern time, joe biden now with well over half the vote. joe biden with 53%, senator sanders: bring at just below 40%. a state the joe biden won easily, 59.3% of the 39.3 percent of the vote with two thirds of the vote reported in missouri. a big win in mississippi for joe biden, 81%. senator sanders hovering at just over 15%. 36 delegates at stake in mississippi. in north dakota, the democratic caucus senator sanders at 40% and joe biden at 36.2%. we are eyeing the results in idaho and washington state, as they come in into the evening
