well, i'm joined now by a friend of the programme director of the climate media coalition, monica mccarthy for coming in. we ought to be concerned about this because we are now going to have to import more refined product because we're going to still be needing it for many years to come . isn't it better to have come. isn't it better to have the refining done locally? >> well, i think it's quite an interesting point for you to be advocating the retention of this refinery. why it's losing 150 million a year. so if we wanted to keep it going, let's say for the next five years, you're talking about half £1 billion for 400 jobs. that doesn't make sense. >> no, no, but i'm not in favour of government subsidy . but if we of government subsidy. but if we weren't phasing out petrol cars so rapidly, then there might be an investment case for upgrading it because there would be a longer term usage. bear in mind that with investments in businesses of this kind, you're talking about 2025 year depreciation schedule. >> ineos is very clear that the problem with grangemouth is it's a 50 year old plant. i

but before we hear from him, let's speak to the director of the climate media coalition, danica mccarthy. why don't we just plant trees? danica , what's the trees? danica, what's the difference? >> well, actually, i think unusually, ben and nana, we actually might be on the same page on this one. it is very unusual for climate sceptics and climate scientists to be on the same page. they both think this is a total waste of money. it's a massive subsidy for the oil industry. basically, bp and equinor will get this money to allow them to continue burning fossil fuels in a power plant. so what we're doing and that means we have to burn15% more carbon, sorry, fossil fuels to produce the carbon capture. it's not a good idea. we should spend the money instead on two things. one is reversing the tory cuts and insulation for people's homes to bring down pensioners bills, and secondly, to invest in green hydrogen, not dirty hydrogen, which will enable the virgin steel jobs to be protected. and we can then continue producing green virgin steel in this country. and reduce bills for homeowners. this
