i mean, i think it's it's very noteworthy that clinton is here. hillary clinton is here.as the standard bearer. i also think it's noteworthy that she is on the first night because there is something think about kamala harris that i think is contributing to the excitement in this room. and that is she represents a break from the past and look to the future that hillary clinton didn't read it present in 2016, hillary clinton was very much at the establishment she had. in fact, pushed aside joe biden. she had been seen as waiting patiently in the wing this is the first time in decades that the country is going to have an option of a presidential ticket without a bush or clinton or an obama on there somewhere on one of the two major parties and i think that's a big part of the energy in this room because i have to say i covered hillary clinton's campaign in 2016 on the plane and the final days of that campaign, the level of excitement that was visible at events, it came nowhere close to what we have seen, what we saw in philadelphia when harris announced her vice. >> it's int

can i go back to hillary clinton?out forwards, backwards. the last time i was here for a convention, 1996, hillary clinton is here as the first lady. thinking through what the administration was boasting around as they went into that, democrats cannot talk about any of that now. the crime bill. there was the don't ask don't tell. welfare reform. none of those things could make anyone in this room happy or promote that. 20 years later she gets the nomination, distancing herself from much of that, and here she is just eight years later pushing another woman forward to the job that she came this close to getting. i find her a fascinating example of a party that has moved and changed. she has stayed with it through those changes. there were other democrats now moving into republicans, people in small town rural america who have shifted to republicanism, but it's also a party that has a lot of members that don't remember anything about it and were not particularly excited about voting for or supporting hillary clinton beca

we know bill clinton will also speak tonight. do you know what role does the former president play for democrats some 25 years after leaving office? has become sort of elder statesman for the party, but more import the same was. he's also seen as one of the party's most effective. well communicators. when it comes to messages about the economy, so his ability to express in simple terms for how complex so, and do one. so you can, all big issues could be seen as a particular boon to pamela harris and symbols who have made to cooperate at the hearts who have put at the heart of the economic policy. helping the working class families helping to build the middle class. so they're hoping bill clinton is somebody with the power point or however the forward home to voters how, what is this uh, this administration will be able to do that if they were elected. now on another note, it's also been reported that after seeing just how much energy and good vibes of this convention has generated in the past 2 nights, bill clinton reportedly ripp
