hillary clinton brought in a solid win over bernie sanders in louisiana. her rival in nebraska and kansas. clinton still has a strong lead in the delegate count. we've got our team of correspondents covering the story but we're going to begin with mark preston. i want to start about ted cruz. his surge seems to be the story this morning and it is not just that he won two of the contests but his wins were thumpings. the trump wins were much narrower than expected. >> it was. trump's performance at the debate last week, did that hurt him? and i don't think we can really make the conclusion yet at this point. these with contests ted cruz won that donald trump wasn't necessarily expected to do super well in. but donald trump is still very far ahead in the delegates. we're heading into that curable three weeks right now now. >> marco rubio has been hitting trump hard and consistently but it doesn't seem to manifest in wins. in fact he didn't take delegates home in two of the four states. >> so if you go back, chris christie went hard after donald trump and marco

outfront now, a bernie sanders' supporter and our political commentat commentat commentator, a hillary clintonporter. within the margin of error, obviously thisould be after the hat trick we saw this weekend of wins for bernie sanders a real big momentum boost as jeff is alluding to. should the clinton campaign be concerned? >> no, not at all. i think first of all, you can't take away anything from what bernie sanders was able to do this past weekend, but bernie sanders has an extremely high bar. he can't win close in wisconsin because the states that are next are very treacherous for him. you have new york. you have the district of columbia. you have other states along the way that are very diverse. bernie sanders has to prove he can win in those states and excel in those states by large margins. >> if that comes down to that union vote, that big 20% of the wisconsin vote, some of that could go for trump. sanders saying he's going to get the vast majority of it, but this is crucial, right? he's got to do this. when you look at michigan where he pulled off that big win, you had a win of 49% to

hillary clinton simply stopped bernie sanders 82 to 16. something like 60% african america vote in mississippi. that would be the largest ratio of any contest so far. hillary clinton will get the line share of mississippi delegates. that will be important. look at what is happening with the delegates in michigan. bernie sanders has 27,000 votes. hillary clinton is not going to make this up with the votes that are still outstanding in detroit. almost 60/40. go blue. bernie sanders, of course, counting on those younger voters to help him. this is going to be something of a setback for democratics and something that causes heart burn when they think about november because like donald trump, bernie sanders is against free trade. it has been a central theme of his campaign. hillary clinton message has been little less. hillary clinton would be to the right of donald trump on this issue. that's not a place that the democrats want them to be >>> it has been an interesting night. thanks. thanks for joining us for the latest news. you can go to alja

clinton. heavy turnout is great for bernie sanders. its looking for a surprise in michigan to make the argument that hillary clinton cannot rest night with the industrial midwest. the biggest problem for bernie sanders we saw because of mississippi, let's suppose this ends up 51-47. bernie sanders would perhaps win michigan with perhaps a delegate edge of 130 but doesn't make up for losing mississippi with a deficit of 20-25 delegates. the map favors hillary clinton in terms of her glide path toward the nomination. the overall vote, here are the numbers going into tonight, hillary clinton 673, bernie sanders 477, again a deficit of 200 delegates and while bernie sanders if he wins michigan that would be huge psychologically for his campaign, it doesn't change the fact that making up a 200 delegate deficit at this stage is very difficult because you have to essentially win 55-45, the entire rest of the way in order to make up this deficit. we'll see how this night blaze out. if bernie sanders were to win michigan, that would suggest some
