clinton kelly four years ago right over there on the bus stop. >> one day april and her boyfriend brian were walking and saw him badly beaten. >> i was on what avenue shopping and i saw him and he was beaten and battered and abused walking with a cane and the worst shape i have ever seen them in. >> i had to carry him and put him in my truck. >> they asked for help for clinton. after the page got started a lot of people got involved. hope foundation helping people every day. they got a medical treatment place to live and in the hotel for while so he could stay. they gave him clothing and food and the thing that mattered the most which is love. >> clinton is a fantastic man. he has been a member of the community and what we now call our family for four years now. >> clinton was beaten and robbed so badly and in the wallet was the address of one of his daughters had lived in carolina. the hope foundation found clinton's daughter in north carolina. she was looking for clinton. they reunited by telephone and now she has invited clinton to come to north carolina and lived with her full-time.

c's kelly o'donnell is in portsmouth, new hampshire, with the clinton campaign. kelly joins us on the phone right now. kelly, with a good afternoon to you, how is mrs. clinton being received there and can you give me an estimate of the crowd size and who's all in it. >> well, i am inside the crowd which is why i'm coming to by phone and not our camera position just because of the secret service sweep. this is an event that is billed as a women for hillary event and i've talked to a number of voters here. of course new hampshire voters take their vetting of candidates seriously. off mix of die-hard hillary clinton supporters as well as others who want to see her in person and take a measure of what she has to say. because we're not far from vermont i have met some bernie sanders supporters as well because, of course, he has a certain regional advantage here and has been polling very strong and i have asked a number of voters about the e-mails issue, some say it's no big deal at all. others are saying it has the drip, drip, drip effect of damaging her campaign but,

kelly. >> look at that. came in from my office out there. such a long journey. back in 2008, hillary clinton won new hampshire in the democratic primary. the crowds loved her. this time around, huh. ed henry is in new hampshire with the story. >> as hillary clinton's poll numbers continue to sink here in new hampshire, the lights going out in a town hall meeting was not the best image. electricity was restored before clinton walked in, though other kinds of nrnl and enthusiasm seemeded to be in short supply as these photos reveal, which is why clinton today went out of the the way to highlight the fact there were no empty seats. what she did not mention is it was a relatively small room. the localhief said there were about 350 people. meanwhile, her chief rival is coming to the same campus in new hampshire on sunday and today, his staff told fox there were already 1,300 rsvps. in new york at a reception for small campaign donor, sanders drew more than 1,000 supporters and said he's catching fire. >> our campaign is doing well. doing a lot better than people anticipated. we are talking about

kelly? >>> meantime hillary clinton facing trouble in the hawk eye state losing her lead to bernie sanders.he vermont senator overtaking mrs. clinton 41%. what's happening? >> bernie sanders has two events in south carolina today. one of them begins this hour as his campaign says it is quote, delighted by the latest poll out of iowa showing the independent socialist senator catching up with hillary clinton for the first time. a quinnipiac shows him with 40%. that top two are within the margin of error. to indicate how far sanders has come or how far clinton has fallen, earlier this summer another poll in iowa showed clinton with 52% and sanders with 33%. this iowa poll follows days after a different poll in new hampshire. has sanders up by nine points over clinton. 41%, 32% suggesting sanders has the momentum in the first two states to vote next year. here is sanders described his ascent in the democratic nominating process. >> you know, why are you generating such large turnouts and why are you generating so much enthusiasm? the answer is pretty simple. that is the american people are sick
