carolee: so many marriages also that broke up because of the coachmen. and a lot of affairs we just won't know about, because they were kept out of the papers. families tried to keep these stories out of the papers, so a lot of them we may never know about. and certainly, after the relationships were news, people changed their names. they moved away, so i'm having a hard time even finding, where does this story end? so there is a lot more research to be done to figure out what sort of happened to these people. i know the answer to some of those, but a lot of them remain a mystery, and that is my ongoing project is to figure that out. steve: the obvious question, were their children out of wedlock as a result of these relationships? carolee: yes. the stories i am looking at are elopements, so they actually went ahead and got married. i'm not looking just at affairs, but mostly at people who legally got married. and i actually made contact with one descendent of one of these relationships, so yes, they had children, and they are out there. and hopefully i
