i did work for a coal company and i am not ashamed of the work i did. i just will talk a little bit about that because i think it is important. in the press, it has been used by some people as a derogatory manner but i am actually proud of the work i did. i want to say in particular the last four or five years working for the company, the number one issue that they asked me to work on was the miners protection act. the miners protection act was to shore up the pension and healthcare benefits for that united mine workers retirees. before i left, -- private practice, i was able to pass legislation for the healthcare benefits but we never finished the pension benefits. i really wish we had done that before i left private practice. that legislation was introduced by senator -- of west virginia. that really was important to me. my grandfather was a coal miner during the depression. my grandmother raised her children in the coal camps in west virginia. in fact, i still have some of the company script that she used to buy food in the company store. so the work
