the quigley house is an original idea from the arts coalition. according to local historian patrick quigley was the superintendent of construction in golden gate park from the early 1870s to 1912. patrick and his large family, they had at least seven children, lived in a house situated in kesar triangle. patrick lived in the house until he passed away in 1912. then the house stood empty and was considered haunted until it burned down in 1914. the idea behind this art project is to use 400 pieces of recycle ed brick to outline where the quigley house once stood and the 400 is to honor the past and present golden gate park staff. this is another original idea from the kesar arts coalition which also has a historical reference. this triangle is an example of one of the types of agricultural art projects that is being proposed in the plan and the idea is to plant barley since this is a natural plant and was once grown there to feed the horses. this is an example actually of an art project that the arts commission considered more landscaping rather th

i also wanted to say too it's a coalition of not only the food access groups and grass root organizations but small businesses and their associations. jobs with justice played a key role and i am grateful we have people here from jobs with justice and also the grass-roots coalition in the bay view and the tenderloin and the support is significant and also spur, our city planning association, plus many other community based groups and alliances. also this piece of legislation will increase healthy food in many areas of our cities. i think some call them food deserts, food swamps is a term i learned today but we are addressing the inequality in many neighborhoods and access to food. many of the small businesses, the so call mom and pop stores need support to transition to healthier stores and this will help them three year period to sustain themselves as well so this will provide incentives that will be explained later to make businesses healthy businesses in our neighborhoods. the legislation also is supported i think importantly by the arab america's grocer's association and discussions w

next speaker. >> hi i am lisy marie altory and also with the coalition. conduct outreach weekly and most recently in january and february we did a focus group of folks in shelters and captain the issues and solutions regarding the current shelter conditions so i wanted to share feedback that we got that is relevant to our conversation today and a lot of it is similar to what we heard from the senior action crew and the work that they do in the sro's but the feedback that we got that affects the lgbt aging community -- i have four points i want to share. the first is regarding staff treatment of seniors and lgbt people and this continues to be a place of abuse, lack of support, lack of competency from the staff. no training of the staff and get a sense of the issues that affect the homeless and accessing the shelters. the second is accessibility and supporting housing needs so some of the basic ada issues aren't met and places for walkers and wheel shares and elevators and getting bunk assignments appropriate to their abilities are. this includes access to
