why coding? yeah, that's a good question. why coding.just because i think it's the future. everyone has a phone in their pocket, everyone has a laptop 01’ their pocket, everyone has a laptop oripad their pocket, everyone has a laptop or ipad or whatever it might be. it's really important that we don't just become users of the technology, but builders of technology. it offers so many opportunities for young people and i think, they have a really great future if they understand not just how a really great future if they understand notjust how to use them but how to build things for them as well. any future bill gates amongst your lot? i bet they pick it up quickly. it's incredible. some kids come in and code websites and build apps but they can't tie their shoe laces. who needs to tie laces! you're coming in and you think, they might be next bill gates, and they still need their mums and dads to come along with them. it's amazing. it's the future and you're part of it. harry, congratulations. thank you very much. applause our next winner i

we passed that -- changes in the tax code. we don't give you plenty of time to adjust and train your employees to respond to questions and prepare the programs and the paperwork and everything to allow folks to file taxes. we pass it right before christmas. right before it's time for people to start prepare their taxes. we don't make the tax code easier. we make it more complex. then we say, go off and do a good job. and in spite of all that, i think the i.r.s. is doing in a number of respects, despite all the hacks and attacks, the cyberattacks, i think you're doing a better job and i think it's in smo no small part because of your leadership. three areas i think we might be able to help the i.r.s. do an even better job is, one, to fund the i.r.s. we're looking again at another request to reduce funding for the i.r.s. from this administration. i understand that for every dollar that we invest in the i.r.s., we not only get better service for taxpayers, as they prepare their taxes, but we also find that we get, for every dolla

confused by the tax code. i do not do my tax return, even though i went to law school and took tax courses. the code compared when i was in law school is phenomenally more complex. my life is fairly simple. you become the tax irs commissioner and you give up a lot of stuff and get rid of a lot of stuff. i'm a relatively simple economic being. but the annual return is much more complicated than it needs to be. >> i mentioned a moment ago about the press club's mission in promoting freedom and transparency. your continued presence over the number of years has not gone unnoticed. on behalf of the club, our members, our board, we want to thank you for making yourself available during your term and wish you the best in what sounds like will be at least retirement from the irs. how about a warm round of applause for the irs commissioner, thank you so much.
