tonight i stayed here in coffey park, and i am amazed at the signs of rebirth. sky drone 5 is in the air above us. let's give you a little aerial tour because 1,500 homes in coffey park were destroyed and 41 people lost their lives. but you can see lot after lot, house after house under various stages of construction, there are foundations poured, some being framed, walls are going up. they're being framed. the roofs are going oranges painting being done inside and -- going on, painting being done inside and outside. there are a couple of houses that are finished. the landscaping is in, people have moved back in, and that is pretty amazing for one year later. this is called the tubbs fire that roared through here. that fire ripped through one of several huge wildfires that burned more than 245,000 acres in sonoma county, napa valley, mendocino county. 44 people killed here, 9,000 buildings destroyed, property owners filed about $10 billion worth of insurance claims, and that doesn't cover the uninsured properties. back out live to sky drone 5, the road to recove

the power finally being restored here in coffey park. see it over my left shoulder here at one of the homes, and it is quite a sight, especially when you consider the damage that was done to this specific santa rosa neighborhood during those north bay wildfires. when they came to the damage that it did to the electricity in the area, those fires damaged heavily the underground electrical equipment here in coffey park so they had to replace about 22 miles of electric lines and 10 miles of gas mains. according to pg&e, they say the construction on this is complete, with a new underground electric and gas utility system not only in coffey park but the marshfield area in santa rosa. all together talking about 1,300 homes destroyed in coffey park and a lot of the owners as we look at some of the homes in the rebuilding or permit stage of getting back into their homes. i taking you here live, the power is on here in coffey park and pg&e finished this two months in advance, they expect restoration to continue in the area at least through the en
