now, we wanted to find out what interest the coke industries had. now, why did we want to find that out? well, the coke industries is one of the largest crude oil exporters in canada. the coke industries own the terminal in canada where the pipeline would begin. the coke industries has a refinery near where the pipeline would end. and the chairman said he'd take their word for it. they don't have any interests. even though there's evidence to the contrary. but then he throws out a real herig and no keystone cop could do. he said, wait a minute. there's another guy who agrees with the democrats some of the time who own as railroad and they might put the coal, tar, sand, on the railroad. so really what the democrat, doing is fronting for another industry. boy, does that make sense. you've got the crude oil owner with a pipeline and the refinery and we should just take their word for it. they have no interest, but we should then point the finger at warren buffett's company, and then what did they do? they say in hearing, well we know what's going on. w

so i had coke industries invited to testify today, well, they refused and coke refused to appear without an invitation from the chairman. so we are left with unanswered questions. why is coke industries being placed at a witness protection program? what does the company have to hide? and why does a company get special treatment while the american people get left in the dark? i also ask the chairman to invite the operator of the pipeline, transcanada, members of our side want to ask transcanada reasonable questions, like what route it plans to follow in nebraska. we want to know about the claims of jobs. the state department testified that we would get 5,000 to 6,000 temporary jobs. these jobs would be around for two years and transcanada said the jobs would be 100,000, that is looking at the lifetime of the pipeline for a hundred years. this is the republican jobs bill. 20,000 jobs they say, maybe 1 100,000 jobs, the state department did an analysis and they said 5,000 to 6,000 jobs for two years. i am glad we have excellent witnesses here today that will give us their views, two departm

pepsi is taking aim at coke, cutting jobs and using some of the savings to boost marketing. pepsi has been lagging coke, especially in the u.s. it will eliminate 8,700 jobs worldwide. earnings in the fourth quarter were better than expected. but the pepsi c.e.o. called 2012 a "pit-stop year to refuel." shares certainly hit the brakes, falling almost 4% on heavy volume. the company rejected calls for it to split its beverage business from its frito-lay snack division. it's a different story at snack food maker diamond foods. the company will restate two years of financial results and replace its top two executives. shares took a nosedive, losing more than a third of their value. the company has been under increasing pressure for its accounting of payments to walnut farmers. the trouble also has put pressure on diamond food's plans to buy the pringles brand from p&g for close to $1.5 billion. an improving job market is good news for linkedin, the social networking site for professionals. earnings were better than anticipated, and showed a 30% jump from a year ago. shares came
