ben is at colchester. the update is what? the update is very encouraging.re here first thing this morning, large numbers of trains were cancelled. ba rely half numbers of trains were cancelled. barely half the normal commuter trains were running into the capital from here. many of the passengers stayed away having heeded the warnings. while there have been some slow flurries, large dumps of snow that were anticipated haven't happened and things have got better. network rail have told the train operating companies they can run more trains. by the end of the day, greater anglia which runs the trains here says of the 1350 trains it would normally run, it expects to run 1000. that is not bad going. they are hoping to run a normal service tomorrow. that is the plan right now but there could be more snow overnight and that could change. at the moment, they are hoping to run a normal service on the basis of things today haven't been as bad as they have worried. encouraging news. quite rightly, conditions could change in the next couple of days. tom is at london br
