alvarez, as well as the landscape of college athletics, changes seemingly by the minute.ther big change today, stanford and cal are headed to the atlanta coast conference, better known as the acc. now the additions are in all sports and begin next school year 2024, 2025. so august of this coming 2024 season. well, this decision heavily based on football. stanford women's head coach tara vanderveer says she thinks it's going to be great for her program at an smu to the acc. now at 18 schools is decision a long time coming after the collapse of the pac 12, when nearly all the schools have jumped to bigger conferences, including the big ten and big 12. and larry, we've been talking about this a lot and a lot of it's based on football. but an interesting quote there from tara. i want to start with your perspective on that, how at least it's going to affect women's sports and all sports on that side? well, i think it's interesting. you know, everybody's trying to spin this positive positively, whether it is or not, because the travel is going to be significant. it's going to b

olympians, 775 out of 613 athletes in the tokyo summer olympic games spent time competing in american college sports programs. school sports organizations like the national collegiate athletic association and the national federation of state high school association both member organization status. these organizations and their schools have charted a different course in the sports policy and business model. under 23 sport system has grown in higher education over the past 50 years to make american college sports the best olympic development system in the world. the unique business model is centered around college football which subsidizes olympic sports in american universities. collegiate amateurism forms the foundation of this business model with a cap on athlete compensation keeping football labor cost down but with no caps on spending. schools are incentivized to maximize their winning by spending the most money to woo the best talent without directly paying athletes. big time college sports has ballooned into a billion-dollar industry. increasing spending on coaches administrative divisio
