san francisco, dune sand, colma, and the others. very simple. because san francisco is so young. -- because san francisco is so young, it is riddled by faults. i have a map that shows the faults across the bay area and san francisco. the granddaddy of all of these is the san andreas fault. it is the longest. it can generate the greatest earthquakes. >> it is just south of san francisco. it goes offshore down here. >> from my house to the fault is about 3 miles on average. >> the closest area in san francisco to the fault is this area here in the southwest part of the city. people said that the closer you are, there are conditions that exacerbate issues. >> the fault's effect on development depends on the fault type and soil component. the san andreas is the main fault. there is the hayward fault. the difference between the two is that the san andreas is predominantly offshore. the hayward fault actually crosses beneath populated areas and poses a larger threat. as we speak, there is a 67% probability of a major earthquake on one of these faults

a later on found out that i was not only the first mayor of colma, filipina mayor of colma, but also the first filipina mayor in the nine bay area counties. [applause] and now, six years later, on my second term, look at how many other women are in elected positions. so kudos to all of them. someone stotted this at the colma station around 11:20 p.m.e third rail was shut off immediately. witnesses say the man jumped from the train -- in front of the train as it approached. service is fully restored this morning. >>> 7:33. a santa rosa woman who was mentoring a parolee is now recovering from an attack by that man. police say charles lenny demand she went him a car last saturday night. when she refused, he assaulted her, took her cell phone and her car before dropping her off at her home. police arrested him yesterday afternoon. he was still driving the victim's car. >>> a little girl's glow in the dark necklace helped search throughs -- crews find her in a wooded -- in a wooded san mateo marine. her mother called 911 and more than 75 officers and volunteers quickly formed a search party. about four hours later, a chp helicopter spotted the girl with a growing necklace and a flashlight. she was scared and a little cold but not injured. >>> 7:34. happening right now, one of the biggest technology conventions in the whole world starts
