this is the evangelical vote in colorado. the darker the area the higher the percentage of evangelicals. you see a higher percentage down here. but this is a much smaller county. this is the hot bed in terms of the population centers in the state and senator santorum carrying it tonight. we don't have those officially on the map yesterday. but he also said up here in weld county, santorum carried this county as well. larimer county had disappeared. senator santorum winning up there as well. so if you look at the map like this, the rest is going to fill in. senator santorum has won and i think this is the map everyone is going to be talking about tomorrow. i'm going to clear the telestrator so you don't see that yellow dot there. after eight contests, there will be a bit of an asterisk because missouri is nonbinding. but who would have imagined that santorum has four, romney has three, gingrich has one. i don't think there was much political conversation that santorum would have won more states after eight contests. >> i want

there's colorado. we do not have a declared projected winner yet in colorado, but here's where it stands at this hour. as you watch the results come in from colorado, it's worth remembering mr. romney didn't just win colorado in 2008, he won it in a landslide. mitt romney won 60% of the vote in colorado compared to 18% for onmccain in 2008. right now with 10% in, rick santorum is at 42%, mitt romney in second at 28%, newt gingrich behind in third place at 16% and ron paul in a close fourth at 13%. again, that's only 10% reporting. results coming in very, very slowly from the republican caucus in colorado. even if mitt romney goes on to win koltz tonight, this has been a disaster of a night for him. his main opponent, newt gingrich, wasn't even on the ballot in missouri, and mr. mitt romney still got crushed there by rick santorum. in minnesota mitt romney not only lost to rick santorum but as you saw he's losing to ron paul as well. he's way back in third. he won minnesota four years ago. in colorado a

how do you see the republican candidates playing in colorado today? >> you know, romney won the state pretty handily in 2008, even though he didn't ultimately win the nomination. so i think mitt romney is going to play really strong. the poll indicates that. there's nothing really that cause me to think it's going to be any different. if somebody else surges in these other states, and he winds up having a tough convention race, something may change, but i'd say the votes are going to ultimately go to mitt romney from here in colorado. and that's, you know, that's expected. now, ultimately, in the general election, i think it's a different question. the way democrats have won in colorado really since ken salozar in 2004 when he won the state senate seat, i won in 2006, mark udall serving in the senate as a democrat, we've been winning in independent and barack obama won the state by 9 points won heavily among independents, so it am be interesting to see where independents are in november of 2010, or 2012. >> and my guess is a lot of those independents
