amenity 1870s took that to the spring court and the city of colorado springs won and colorado springsas going to be a dry town. that brings families because they say this is a safer place for our kids to grow up. that's another thing that founders of colorado springs focused on, they brought in churches, kept out alcohol and major schools were one of the first things they brought in and the chambers fit into all 3 of those things, not just one or 2 family members but all of them. like i said, mrs. chambers taught school and so did her daughters. in 1888 they started the first school in the valley called the glenridge school, mrs. chambers taught until they built a building at her daughters taught in it later and we find looking at old newspapers, i found the bed chambers in school records from 1875 like when they were first here. that was really neat. they were not going to delay on school and throughout their time here, robert chambers is listed in the city directories and the list, they were very active, which is a mouthful. so we know he was involved because he's listed as a truste
