i have the privilege of teaching first year criminal law at columbia law school, that's, of course, a nyu wannabe. but the -- at one of the things that my students remark on is how different criminal laws are from state to state. so in the interest of uniformity of federal criminal code would be aal good thing. and might be constitutional issues and federalism that that would run into. so that's a serious problem. in terms of eliminating mass incarceration i don't think it would have much effect. the same draconian laws that exist in most of the states were copied by congress in the 1960s, 70s, 80s they still exist in the books so this -- is not an issue that would be solved by having a single criminal code. >> okay. and then one last question. if you know, if you look at where we are ten years from the publication of your book ten years from today, where would you hope that we would be as it relates to some of the things that you've mentioned in the book? >> i think -- we have the capacity as a country to change almost every one of the problems that i mentioned some are harder like e
