men seen in this surveillance video committing an armed robbery at a check cashing store along columbia pike. a suspect was arrested in the july 27 murder of tommy wong killed inside his jewelry store. the crime spree started on july 24 when a husband murdered his wife in one of these apartments here in shirlington. when arlington police put out a press release, it noted it was the first homicide in the county in more than two years. so many violent crimes in such a short period has some residents on edge. >> scared. >> reporter: really? >> yeah. >> it's very tragic. a think a lot of it is due to spiritual warfare and also because we're so disconnected from each other. >> it's certainly something that concerns us. >> reporter: police chief douglas scott doesn't see any connection between the crimes. neither does this lifelong respect accident. >> arlington has been a safe place for so long. i have lived here for over 30 years. and these are all -- these all seem to be isolated incidents. hopefully it's coming to an end now. >> reporter: do you know what your friend did? of course are hoping

now 52-year-old tommy wong of herndon was killed at capitol jewelers on columbia pike here in arlington. that was back on july 27th. family members called police when he didn't come home that night. he was found dead inside his store. in virginia, a slaying during a robbery can be a capital offense and if the person is convicted, it could carry a death sentence. now just to repeat for you, 52- year-old james sylvester caroline of d.c. has been arrested on a probation violation, but police say he is also a suspect in two jewelry store robberies and the homicide at capital jewelers here in arlington. they tell me those charges are pending. brian, back to you. >> audrey barnes tonight. >> a 25-year-old man was arrested in annapolis yesterday after outbursts in a movie theater. kyle tanner walked into a theater while the movie was playing and sat in the front row and started yelling at the screen and movie-goers and he left twice and then later when he returned he pointed at people simulating he had a gun. he was arrested and charged. >> we have new details about the colorado movie theater

since 52-year-old tommy wong of herndon, virginia, was killed in his arlington jewelry store off columbia pike last week. surveillance pictures showed a man in a neon reflective traffic vest in the store. a similar description was given in another robbery in june where ken stein of benson's jewelers in northwest d.c. was robbed at gunpoint. stein said he is relieved to hear of the arrest. >> i'm thankful for the family, for me that they did get this guy off the street. he needs to be busted and put in jail. we don't want somebody like that -- we want somebody like that that's carrying a gun off the street. >> reporter: i checked with the courts and he has six pending probation violations all regarding credit card theft, forgeries and identity fraud. he was picked up yesterday afternoon. d.c. police have not said if they expect to file charges soon. i talked with the wong family this afternoon. tommy wong held his funeral today, this afternoon, in herndon. the family says they are so relieved tonight and the daughter says that she is extremely relieved that now her father can finally truly rest
