the first fire here on columbia road in colombia apparently happened just before 3:00 a.m. it was a grease fire started in the kitchen. the occupant had to move out temporarily because of smoke and water damage. fire crews and of course their way in an apartment after about getting in 911 call. an elderly woman was asleep in her apartment and apparently some smoke in the kitchen set the alarm off. we also learned this afternoon that a baltimore city firefighter was rushed to the hospital battling a blaze in east baltimore. he suffered burns to his hand. at last check, the firefighter had been released and is off duty for the time being. the crew did get the flameout rather quickly. commissioner bielefeld has a few more days before he is officially retiring from the pores. with a proper baltimore first pitch today. he says the of honor. he's a the looking forward to retirement but he will miss his job. >> it's a bittersweet. 31 years in the city. everyone has treated me well. the people of baltimore have always taken great care of me and i tried to take great care of them. >
