in 1999, 12 students were killed at columbine high school in littleton, colorado. thirty-two were killed in virginia tech in 2007. thirteen were left dead in fort hood, texas in 2009. six were killed and congresswoman gabby giffords was left with a gunshot wound to the head in tuscon, arizona in 2011. twelve were shot in aurora, colorado -- that movie theater in 2012. six more killed a month later at the sikh temple in oak creek, wisconsin. and just four months after that, 26 dead including 20 children, a mass murder at sandy hook elementary school up in newtown, connecticut. it does seem iconically, that we're the country where people have these rampage shootings. can you explain the rampage? the availability of guns is part of it. but this crime -- if you read this guy's manifesto, you can't like the guy in any way. his sense of entitlement, that somehow he's entitled to all these beautiful women, that somehow he has a right to personally own the rights of all these women is delusional. where did he get that delusion? where'd he get it? >> yeah, it is delusional.

in that journal, he said he was inspired by events like columbine high school, like the heartbreakinging at sandy hook elementary. he wanted to carry this initial attack out on the 15th anniversary of columbine high school, but because that anniversary on april 20th landed on easter sunday, he didn't have the time to do it, but authorities believe he intended to carry out this attack in the coming weeks. >> details are just horrifying. including a plan to kill his family as a distraction. >> that's right. that's the diversion i was talking about, setting that fire so he had more time to carry out his attack and we should mention, we just got new details in a moment ago, as he was being transferred, after he was taken into custody, he was take ton a juvenile center where he made a homicidal threat to authorities there. that led authorities to transfer him to another facility. his initial court appearance will be on may 12th. he is being treated as a juvenile, but some of the charges, two counts of attempted criminal damage to property. four counts of attempted first degree murder, as w

we're right at the end of columbine lane. and up this path.l here is where a fire was set early this morning. investigators believe it was set intentionally. you can see the area is roped off there. this is a fairly small fire as they all were. this one a quartier of an acre or so. this was one of six suspicious fires that was set early this morning and they all broke out just within three hours of each other. they were all in this same area near 101 and highway 37 here in novato. five of the fires burned through brush but there was one fire set inside of a garage and burned a car. that was on trinity drive. and in that case the homeowner suffered smoke inhalation when he came down and put out that car fire himself. he was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. all the fires knocked down quickly but with the brush as dry as it is right now, firefighters were certainly worried that any one of the fires could have done a lot more damage. >> the close proximity to the urban vegetation interface situations we have out there and the dens
