joining me now for more on this is republican congressman james comber of kentucky, the most devastatedional district. he traveled with the president yesterday. thanks for being here. we heard the president announce that the federal government is going to cover 100% of the costs of the emergency work in kentucky for the first three days. what does that mean for your district? >> it means a lot. this is rural america. rural america just doesn't have the tech base that a lot of other parts of more suburban and urban areas have. so that was the biggest concern among the county executives and mayors was. we've got all this debris to remove, all these roads to open up. how are we going to pay for it? that was one of the things i requested, governor ba shear requested, and i was pleased he announced the federal government would pick up the cost of the cleanup. >> getting power back up and getting housing for so many people, i know some of the most immediate and pressing needs we've heard about this week. are those needs changing now? what are you hearing from folks in terms of what they need

. >>> let's bring in republican congressman james comber of kentucky.ilence tonight. thanks for joining us. i'm sorry it's under these circumstances. the tornadoes swept through so much of your congressional district. is your family okay? were they impacted? >> no, my family, we live three hours east of where the tornadoes hit. my district is very wide. it's about one-third of the entire state of kentucky. so six hours from east to west and we, fortunately, weren't anywhere near the path. >> okay, good. just wanted to make sure. hadn't seen that reported and wanted to ask. before returning to washington you toured some of the hardest hit areas of your district. what is the most urgent need right now? >> the most urgent need is to get power back. we still have several thousand people without power. we still have people without water. and i know crews are working day and night trying to restore the utilities in mayfield and the surrounding areas. even parts of the counties that weren't impacted by the tornado directly, they've gone without power and water
