that was james comey.tten 235 pages that we had in front of us, there was the mention as mike was telling us, you and i talked about this earlier, and the idea of obstruction of justice investigation ongoing. how does this all fit into what we're going to see going forward in the coming weeks before we end the year? >> well, i thought it was a very interesting moment when he was asked not to answer some questions and the fbi representative did confirm that there is an obstruction of justice investigation going forward. that one has always struck me as one that could be ended sooner than the russia interference case just because it's a finite period of time involving a finite number of actors unlike the russia piece which is very sweeping and has international components to it. and so that one piece is one that it seems could be finished. it seemed like the missing piece that was delaying that for a long period of time was president trump's own refusal to sit down with investigators. he finally did provide

i think there are two areas where comey is right.ey should not be occurring behind closed doors. we should be susceptible so mike skeptical of republicans and democrats when they say the best way to do oversight is outside a few of the american people. the second thing a think he's right about -- this is not an attempt to make them accountable for the email scandal. if we were serious about doing that, we would've done that starting at the beginning of the congress. what we are trying to do here is understand the four corners of where comey was leaking and who he was talking to, because our fear about comey is that he viewed the job of a director not as one of conducting investigations and making reports but actually trying to shape public opinion by leaking information to the media and trying to have sort of selectively bad things come out about trump to discredit him, both before and during his presidency. if we have the understanding, we will know what other investigations may have been polluted by all the departures from the norm
