community connections provides a range of services. our community support teams, and there at least five specialties within those teams-addictions and co-occurring disorders, criminal justice involvement and recovery from the criminal justice system, wellness and recovery, and recovery from violent victimization. we also provide a host of other services. we have a psychiatric clinic, we work with

community connection is beautiful. the facilitators are nice, the caseworkers are nice, and, you know, whatever area you need help in, they're there to help you, with open arms. dr. clark, what are some of the most effective approaches to dealing with individuals that are homeless and that have an addiction problem or a co-occurring condition? i think the most important thing, when you talk about approaches, is that you do have an individualized assessment of the person. you screen for a full range of issues. from samhsa's point of view, that would include mental health issues, trauma, substance use, etc. but remember, we're dealing with somebody who is homeless, so we need to know what else, what other situations are going on. am i homeless because of economics? am i homeless because of domestic violence? am i homeless because of a physical problem that needs to be addressed? am i a veteran who may have access to resources? will i benefit from peer support? these are all questions the case-, the person doing the asses

meetings, is they actually find all of the different support and community based organizations from youth on up, families. they connect it to the community. they have a special events the black and white ball was put on by the mo magic. we did a call out and said come and volunteer at the black and white ball. even though it's not no in your neighborhood -- as you know nobody can put up a wall around your neighborhood. a lot of the different services are on different panels. one of the reasons we couldn't load the panel up more was time. we decided to step up and talk about the services. our police officers have a resource guide that when they go they hand out resource guides to families and the hopeless and the drug addiction. but also one of the things we believe in and what we are talking about here is we want prevention. when they are there playing football with the kid or fixing their bikes and see something going on in the family and the parent come out and talks to them about something everyone on the panel can give the resource information. you have to educate the community. there is not enough money and enoug

it is a manifestation of an ideal and vision to connect the dots and connect communities in a different way and connect different functions of government and in a more streamlined manner. to also connect funding to allow us to avail ourselves to federal pots of money that we were not in the past availing ourselves to. to utilize the speaker of the house as a vocal reserve in a constructive, thoughtful and strategic way to take advantage of former mayor dianne feinstein and senior center in a thoughtful way. to leverage the work being done at the m.t.a. and san francisco transportation authority and with community leaders, and to package these things with a narrative that can anchor our future where these are not one-off projects and this becomes the norm. there is actually a story line in terms of how we approach our public realm. in the past none of that really existed. we had communities that said enough is enough, we need to focus on our streets and somebody with a louder voice camino to the supervisors a -- came to the supervisor or mayor and said focus on our streets. now we have a
