today it was temporarily shut down to drivers after residents complained before being overwhelmed by crowds. sergio quintana is live from the crooked block that just reopened to drivers moments ago. reporter: for the last few minutes we have been watching lombard street because it has been cleared by a lot of the traffic patrol officers here because you can see cars are now starting to come down again for the last six hours, the crookedest street in the world was a brick-covered walkway for pedestrians. all afternoon, tourists from across the country and around the world sauntered down the red brick road and didn't have to dodge the drove of cars that usually clothes on hyde street leading to lombard. residents had been complaining in the last four years traffic was a nightmare with cars backed up for blocks trying to drive down the crooked street. this has become one of the most popular debts nations in the city, so closing the street to cars over the next few weekends is a trial run to see if this can be a more permanent solution to local gridlock. >> i have not tried to bring the
