i'm conan nolen, nbc bay area news. back to you. >> thank you, conan. more insight on today's new hampshire primary results and the implication for the nomination down the road, let's bring in our nbc bay area political analyst. larry gerston. romney came out ahead, two wins in the win column. what do you make of today? >> two wins. this win is a good win. i wouldn't call it a great win. as a matter of fact, he has a home there in new hampshire. they know him quite well. i think it says not so much about romney as it does about others. ron paul continuing to do well in a state where he might not have done so well. jon huntsman giving it his all, 175 meetings over the past few months. maybe third place. that may be it for him. rick perry, an asterisk. he's all but gone unless a miracle happens in south carolina. once again, jessica, we see a wittaling of the field. >> new hampshire is in romney's back yard. does that discount the results of what we're seeing today? >> no. there's no question about it. new hampshire is important. ef he state is different.

here's conan o'brien's take on last night's primary. >> i have the latest on the new hampshire primariesy is in first with two white guys trailing. at this point in the race are the candidates doing enough to set themselves apart from the gop rivals? maria? >> no, it doesn't seem they are. that's why you have the rivals really going after mitt romney on capitol and the fact that he hbt really been a great -- he doesn't have a great record on job creation. the fact of that matter is every single candidate in the gop is focused on the same exact failed republican economic policies that put us in this economic recession to begin with. and that is something president obama will focus on in the election. >> chris. >> well, what you're seeing in the republican party is the fight for who is the conservative, who is the alternative to mitt romney. after south carolina, that's going to be a lot more clear. as to who this alternative the mitt romney is going to be. i think there's a lot more that needs to be done to distinguish themselves from mitt romney. >> the entire field is distinguished. we

this is conan's take on mitt romney's cash. >> mitt romney does very well with republican voters who00. yeah. or as romney calls them trailer trash. can someonev live on that? >> romney did defend his investments again last night, so is his wealth a turn-off? goldie? >> i don't think that the wealth is a necessarily a turn-off and who cares how much money mitt romney is able to make, if he is able to take advantage of the opportunities that the country affords him, great. but how many toasters do you need if you are going to have accounts in the caymans and the swiss, and how much free checking accounts and free fees do you need if you make that much money? >> boris? >> the key is last night, between the taxes and the charitable donations, he has paid over 40%, and that is what is important that he is not only paying the taxes, but he is donating and giving to education as a barack obama is talking about. so no, wealth is not a turn-off and most americans want to be rich and be like mitt romney. >> jason? >> look, americans love the rich people, but you have to be the right kind of r
