we have live coverage from ktvu jana katsuyama who talked to police at the scene in concord. jana, she is now at the hospital with more on how that little boy is doing. jana? >> reporter: frank and julie, just this past hour we got an update from contra costa's animal services officer who says the boy was bit in the face on the right side of the face there was a puncture wound there as well as kind of a cut on his forehead. he was taken into surgery here at children's hospital in oakland and he is expected to survive. the family's pet was caught and killed as they were trying to rescue the boy. concord police officers got to the home at the back unit of 2140 fremont street at 4:30 in the afternoon. the dog had attacked the baby who was with his 7-year-old brother in the living room watching tv. their mother says she had been with her children, but left briefly to put laundry away in the back bedroom. that's when she told the son to stop growling at the baby who was on the ground. >> mom was in another room. when she heard the 7-year-old screaming, she runs in and sees what's
