the concord geyser. errr not joking about this. this is a fire hydrant which has sheared off at highway port chicago. this is an on ramp access to 242. that hydrant, presumably the one that got knocked off, 75 feet high as far as the geyser went for two hours in the area. a lot of water being cleared up. concord pd talked about traffic control, and so are we. just off 242. cuts between highway 4 and that area. it's a major roadway. later on in the commute, we'll track that. also, gas stations, a couple places to get coffee, a lot of folks use that as access to fuel their body and car getting over to the freeway. we'll watch this carefully. 242, 680, highway 4 all moving slowly because it's very early. traffic is light at 4:48. here southbound 680, that shows slowing coming down through sunol out of pleasanton. the overnight road work still has crews in the area and they haven't cleared up everything so there will likely be more slowing. it will continue on until 6:00, but hopefully by then it's completely clear because that's when

concord 63, upper 50s santa rosa and napa, san francisco one of the cool spots, 56. san francisco will be cooler tomorrow by eight degrees because the onshore flow is beginning to return. it's usually about a 24 to 48 hour process to envelope the entire bay area. not going inland, places like concord and martinez and bay point will still be plenty toasty with highs in the 90s. but things will change some. even though the ridge is exactly where it was 24 hours ago, won't move much tomorrow, it will move after that. that will allow the onshore flow and very chilly air over the pacific to invade the entire area by friday. if you like the warm weather, get outside and enjoy it tomorrow. wednesday in the santa clara valley, upper 80s, do i hear 90, some spots in the santa clara valley, 90 degrees. by saturday, highs in the 60s. here's what to expect. minimal cooling at the coast begins tomorrow afternoon. then thursday, everybody's cooler by up to 12 degrees by friday and additional 10 to 15 degrees of cooling. add it all up, we go from the 90s to the 60s for some of us.

laura anthony is live at high lands elementary in concord with the concerns.is has been a highly charged issue here in contra costa county. this school behind me would not me into the new district, but the principal here worries it could receive some collateral damage. >> this would decimate our community. >> reporter: ryan is the principal of high lands elementary, a school that draws its 600 students from concord, walnut creek and clayton. if a proposal to create a separate new north gate school district succeeds, he worries his halls could be half empty. >> north gate was going to get its own district, it would take away about 53% of our student population and about 15 to 20 members of our staff. >> reporter: high lands is part of the 32,000 student mt. diablo unified school district, but there is a is he session movement underway that would pull 4200 of those students into a new north gate unified district. high lands itself would not move to the new district, but some 300 of its students could. >> all of my children have gone here. i still have two here.
