today, we are joined fly from concord. bob, talk to about this. they believe yesterday, the heat really played a role in this. >>> correct, good morning. bart believes the 100+ temps here in concord actually heated up the rails behind me, and below me, heated him up so much it caused it to curve so slightly and caused one of their trains to ultimately partially derail. we are on the over cross and we are at the intersection of helix drive, not, you can see below us, workers have been working overnight to fix that damaged rail, bart does not expect this work to be done in time for the morning commute which is going to be obviously underway here at any moment. that means service will be singletrack. on the other set of rails here, this will be in both directions in concord and pleasant hill, with full service on the rest of the yellow line. around 5:30 pm yesterday, a train with about 50 passengers on board was traveling between concord and pleasant hill headed toward san francisco when 2 cars at the end of the train jumped the tracks. >> basically,

>> well with the last major earthquake we had on the concord-green valley fault was 1955. but we typically see smaller earthquakes and you can see where it runs through parts of the north bay and just off to the left of the fault. as we look at the history there, and when it did happen in 1955 it caused quite a bit of damage, in fact back in that time it was when you equate it to today's money $8 million worth of damage and caused death and unknown injuries, and knowtime we have earthquake or minor shaking we want to give you reminders. try to find your interior walls and also falling debris as well as think about where to get in, under a desk or table and hallways are not always the safest. aftershocks could continue and something we will be watching for. who knows how long it could last in terms of those aftershocks. >> you are right, they certainly can, and people in the east bay felt it and we have an interview in concord. so what did you feel? >> i was getting ready for work and i felt the earthquake and i immediately ran over to my kids room to make sure nothing had
