he was always in touch with the leaders of mexico and america, and served in congress. when the time came that they knew the war was nearing, he petitioned the government to send the army to corpus christi to wait out the war. zachary taylor's army camp in the region between the rio grande -- the strip between the two rivers caused the outbursts of anger to cause the mexican-american war. it was the campground for or thousand men, half of the army at the time. they were all here. after the war was over, henry mckinney, came back to corpus christi and was trying to make it a thriving city. the first texas state fair happen in 1852, seven years before the series affairs that we know today. about 20,000 circulars went out to the world. he convinced only 2000 people to come to corpus christi. it did not provide quite the boom he thought it would. he bought very elaborate presentation tablets to our ward to the winning competitors in the fair categories. agriculture in corpus christi brought many of the day, wealthy families to the area. corpus christi has subsisted mostly o

congressmen went into the building because hamilton and the congress wanted it to appear this was a demonstration against the united states of america. this was the horror of republics, the military rising against civilian control. and that the american people seeing this would come to the defense of congress. even though congress did not get a quorum, congress was not surrounded by district, nonetheless a representative went to the supreme executive council and asked the president the governor of pennsylvania the great john dickinson to call up philadelphia militia to drive the continental soldiers away from the building. dickinson looked at the congressman who had come up and said "are you nuts? do you think the militia of philadelphia is going to take up arms against the men that won independence for them? it is not going to happen." nobody has been harmed. this is just a political demonstration. and indeed, congress left the building and a huff. the soldiers went back to their barracks. that night, congress held an emergency session at which there was a quorum and voted that it pennsylvania -- is pennsylvania did not defend the

will the latest threat against the mall of america motivate congress perhaps to fund the department of homeland security? >> it certainly makes it different to withhold those funds. it puts another sort of fly in the ointment in the political atmosphere in washington. there was also a massive row over funting the dhs, and this will make it more different. i think it shows the new age of terrorism, if you look the idea that you know a foreign terrorist group doesn't need to send operatives to the united states but can try to inspire members of the immigrant community, perhaps a lone wolf person who's been radicalized. and it's very interesting, we're seeing almost a competition between terror groups to spread fear and disruption through social media. we've seen isis do it with their notorious videos perhaps more so than al shabab but the purpose is to spread fear and disruption you've seen the security measures and that's just one example of what thinks videos can do. >> l.z. do you see the timing might be influential to this funding issue? >> well it would be very unfortunate if it is
