according to the congressional research service, the last time the united states signed a trade agreement was back in 2006 with peru. these three trade agreements the house passed last night could have been sent to congress back in 2009. every day we delay is a day we deny american workers job opportunities to compete. these trade agreements aren't about rhetoric, they are about results. we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines anymore while other countries enter into trade agreements with colombia, panama, and south korea causing us to lose more of the market share. again i support these free trade agreements if as a country we are allowed to compete, i know we will deliver. with that i yield back my time. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman yields back. the chair recognizes the gentlewoman from florida, ms. wasserman schultz, for five minutes. ms. wasserman schultz: thank you, mr. speaker. i rise today to honor the achievements of marcia jo, founder, executive director and chief curator of the jewish museum of florida. marcia has been a leader in the organized florida jewish communit

the congressional research service says that under this administration, over half of the criminal immigrants identified, 300,000-plus, have been released. yet, when i asked what crimes these release criminals have been charged with, dhs bonds that ice does not track this data, so we do not even know what crimes were committed by the criminal immigrants that dhs refused to detain. i just wondered if that is the case. do we not determine what crimes had been committed? do we not know what crimes were committed by those individuals that dhs refuses to detain? it seemed so incredible that we would be releasing individuals without even knowing what crimes they might have committed, but i hope there is a good answer. >> i am not personally familiar with the study that you reference, but we detained and have beds at the number that the congress funds, which is roughly around 34,000, and there are decisions -- >> my question was not about the number release or the beds. my question was about do you know the crimes committed of those that you refuse to detain? >> i will look into that. i will assume,

for instance, the congressional research service examined one and concluded, quote, little credence can be placed in these estimate of job losses. the state and local air pollution agencies concluded that one study's assumptions are grossly in error. it's my hope that this body will not be so easily misled. it was lack of regulation at wall street, on the banks and the brokers and the other people who spent their time figuring out very crafty investments for which nothing -- nothing backed them up that caused this recession, not because we had environmental regulations that protect children from toxic mercury emissions. . i oppose these bills on substance and i also have concerns about the process. let me go into the process. we were told, this is a small issue, depends how you look at it, these bills are bad enough to oppose simply on the basis of what they would do, but it shows how the republican majority in this house want to adopt rules and regulations on themselves, but they don't abide by them. the house dew point change the rules, but the majority leader said we have a protocol

earlier this year, the congressional research service issued a report saying the united states of america is the number one energy resourced rich nation in the world. god has given us such a tremendous gift. if we legalize american energy production, which i have been advocating throughout my time in congress, we will create very quickly 1.4 million high paying jobs, increase domestic energy supply to 50%, and that brings $800 billion into the united states treasury. we have more oil in three western states than the former shell oil than all of the oil in saudi arabia. we have 25% of all of coal in the world. we have some of the largest spines of natural gas found recently in pennsylvania. we have trillions of cubic square feet of natural gas incoming solar, winds, biofuels here in iowa. we have a all. i want to legalize it all and change the epa and get rid of the epa. we have 50epa's at each state level, get rid of it so we can open up american energy production and be the leader in the world and be the head and not the tail. [cheers and applause] >> if you can reverse one energy relate

according to a january 2011 report from the congressional research service -- and i quote -- "there is nothing to prevent south korean firms from performing intermediate manufacturing operations in north korea and then performing final manufacturing processes in south korea." in other words, there's a huge industrial park in north korea. south korean companies own that park. workers there are paid horrendously low wages, and some of those wages go right to the north korean government. products made in that industrial park in north korea will go to south korea and then will come back into the united states as part of that so-called free trade agreement. today, over 47,000 north korean workers are currently employed by more than 120 south korean firms, including hyundai at the casing industrial complex in north korea. this facility is located just six miles north of the demilitarized zone with direct road and rail access to south korea and just an hour's drive away from seoul. these north korean workers officially make a minimum wage of 35 cents an hour, but they actually make much less
