the vision for this plan really is creating a connected city. when we created the plan, we did not want to put initially a lot of detail into specific hardware and software. what we wanted to do is create a vision for where we want to go as a city. san francisco is seen as a leader in using technology to deliver better services. every department, as you have probably heard, through the budget hearings, are really trying to leverage technology now to better deliver services within that department. the public health department the medical records at, you have things that people are trying to do to leverage technology to provide better internal capabilities to their staff and to provide better accessibility, more unique applications, make our services easier access. the plan focuses a lot on taking advantage of the success we see, and what can government learn. we hear of this deadlock. what can government learn from the successes of technology. we are the hub here in san francisco of a lot of tech firms. we meet often with these very successful en

we definitely see our department as the glue that connects the city with the different departments togetherand to help advocate for services for children, youth, and families. i want to mention a few things the department is doing for the summer, because we are doing a lot. if you want to learn more, please go to 311, 211, or our partent-specific website sf.org. our goals are to create programs and services that meet the needs of working families. i want to emphasize working families because i received a directive from the mayor that require this to make sure all of programming help support all of those working families in san francisco, because you know how important that is to keep our families here and to have " -- quality services for them, and to focus our services on at risk children, youth, and families. we also have a lot of families that are struggling right now. we need to make sure our services prioritizes families. finally, we want to make sure would provide a healthy meals for all of our children who are experiencing any of these programs. of note, we want to make sure that eve

i want to have a positive impact on the city overall, specifically district 10, connecting it to the city. people have been left to defend for themselves. i am honored to have been elected to serve to be the next advocate for the next four years, hopefully the next eight years, to really protect, defense, and serve the residents of district 10. >> we will talk more about some of the issues facing district 10. before we do, i would like to know a little bit about what you learned campaigning for supervisor. talk to me a little about that experience. >> first, i learned that a lot of the conversations we have about our neighborhood and community happens in silos. we have folks only talking with visitation valley. we have folks in bayview only talking with and a small corner of the bayview merchant quarter. we don't have people talking to the potrero hill association. all of these different fragmented conversations are happening. there largely talking about the same thing, crime, keeping streets clean, businesses, supporting small businesses, maintaining and making sure the city is livab

that is why i investing so much time in creating a strong connection with our city college, school district. they've got to make sure we have a very integrated education system. that will be a key for many years to come. they tell us in no uncertain terms that they come here because these are the best minds. if they have marginal engineers , just being here makes those engineers better when they are interacting with better engineers in the city. they told me about that as well. i think there are many ways to attract businesses. i know that will be a key to any strategy to have a continued educated work force. >> you know better than anybody where the bodies are buried. you have been a city administrator, fraud investigator. there been 10% cuts with another 10% contingency. all of the fat has been cut in previous years. where would you cut? where could the city save some money? >> my very first job was the whistle-blower investigator under the mayor. some people believe there is some truth to why i have accelerated in of my jobs needed because i know where all the skeletons are. i think the

imagine a plan connected to a city as whole where owning a car is a choice not a necessity and streets are inviting public bliss spaces. i think this sort of drives our focus here when we talk about affordability we're talking about a neighborhood that is inclusionary of all different types of people and this is a very important component of -- of the market octavia plan to make this plan work. and then the transportation. we talk about parking. this is also very, very important. we've said for many years, we welcome new residence in our neighborhood but when they bring their cars, it's problematic. we're already indone dated with many -- inundated with many cars on our streets. we've got franklin, falon and hope and now since the tearing down of the central freeway and ok tafe yeah boulevard, we had buchanan and laguna are becoming major thorough fairs. i had it an experience where i was assaulted by an angry driver, motorist and sent to the hospital at laguna and page. just the other day i was walking with my dog and a driver ran the stop sign and almost ran over my dog. it's just th
