connell mcshane has been doing digging. connell? >> last night was a strong night for the republicans. but as we take a closer look and dig deeper into the numbers, we know neither party can relax heading into the mid-terms in 2018. pay close attention to margin of victory. karen handel on the republican side in georgia won by 3.8 percentage points. when tom price ran, his victory had a margin of 23.2%. we saw that in the other races. south carolina was a big surprise. sure, the republican won 3.2%. but last time around, mick mulvaney with a 20-point win. as the republicans have gone 4 for 4 in the special elections, we've seen it in montana, 15.8%. down to plus 5.6%. we saw it in kansas where more than a 30-point victory for the republicans last time around last year down to 6.2% in the special election. so what does it mean? we have to look at the balance of power heading into the mid-term elections next year and know that the democrats certainly have ground to make up. they have to start turning these close but no cigar races int

reporting the dow connell mcshane c-- chemical met with te head of epa. why the fate of a particular dow chemical pesticide? hears p the entry of scott pruitt's calendar which we have obtained. march 9, 3:05 to 3:30, meet with andrew, dow chemical, hilton america's houston room 845. and then three weeks later, the head of the epa brushed aside the findings of epa scientists and said, no, i'm not siding with you. instead, i'm siding with dow chemical. whose ceo i just met in that hotel room. he declares that dow chemical's pesticide would be just fine. there would be no ban. never mind what the epa scientists had already said about it. we've seen so many whiplash changes from the last administration to the new one, but the sidelining of science is one that you've really been able to watch in real time. last month we got the news that epa was canning several members of an important science advisory board. the scientists had initially been told they could stay. one of the ousted scientists said the cuts, quote, just came out of nowhere. now, for the record,

connell mcshane trying to win over moderates as they do so. >> right, try not to lose conservatives inadam was talking about some of this. the president with the health care surprise and if you look at the numbers, one of the ways to win over the moderates might be to bring down the congressional budget office talked about when they said the republican plan would lead to 22 million more uninsured by the year 2026 compared to obamacare. hypothetically if this is a lower number, maybe it comes down to 15 or 10 million or whatever the case may be. will that be enough? again, you have the moderates so if you do go to suzanne collins, maybe she's encouraged by something like that, just reading between the lines from the other day, i want to work to fix the flaws in aca. cbo analysis she went on shows the senate bill won't do it. i will vote no and she says the cbo, this is where we get the number 22 million people will lose insurance. medicaid cuts and rural areas is threatened and finally the senate bill does not fix pc problems. already struggling point out the one of five on medicaid. he

our friend connell mcshane breaks down what happened. of the with foreback-to-back congressional wins, what is lost they simply held on to seats already had and margin might not be what you think, connell? reporter: it is interesting. no doubt a good night for the republicans last night and they are 4 for 4 in the special elections to your choice. but glass half-full, half empty. look at numbers. margins may tell us something as we look forward to 2018. we'll look at all four races. with the race in georgia last night, 3.8 percentage point win for republicans and karen handel on that side, compares to last time this seat was open a 23-point margin. we saw in other races, south carolina, which was much closer than anybody anticipated with republicans only winning it by 3.2 percentage points, versus a district where they won by 20 point the last time around. the other two races, four special elections for the republicans so far have gone 4-4, montana, 5.6, versus 16 percentage points last time around. the final one kansas where we saw somet

connell mcshane, what's going on?ociation of america has reportedly brought in the big accounting firm pricewater whitehouse. last year was 3.7% growth. it slowed town a lot. xi jinping, the president of china, they cut a deal how much they are supposed to get. 25% of gross ticket receipts that are coming in and are supposed to go to the studios and 30-some films that are allowed to run in china every agreement and that agreement comes up next year. a lot of back and forth now and they want to maybe get some lerch and renegotiate this and if this bloomberg report is right, we reach out to the motion picture association, they didn't comment. if this is right, maybe you create ledge and maybe next year you get better leverage. neil: do we rely on china telling us what the numbers are? >> we have some of your favorites, pirates of the caribbean, transformers, huge fan of transformers. neil: stupid movie. connell: don't get us in trouble again. neil: is it our movie? connell: probably. neil: set your date for that one. connell mcshane is picking apart cbo predictions. what have you got, buddy. >>> this congressional office had a number of issues over the years. this time republicans are upset. sometimes in the history it has been democrats. but rnc pointed out past predictions have not come true. we looked into them. turns out they do have legitimate beef here. cbo estimated 21 million people would enroll in obamacare exchanges in but only 12 million did last year. overshoot, cool 120%. second example, cbo predicted 4 million enroll in the obamacare small business program, shop. federalrecords, 230,000. way off. the another quick example, cbo turned out cost for medicaid expansion was huge underestimate. 42 billion, to 68 billion. they're off 60 plus%. you look at numbers, don't you refer to this as the bipartisan congressional budget office? looking back at history to be fair we found a number of bipartisan complaint. cbo founded in 1975. sometimes democrats don't like it. sometimes republicans don't like it. many examples of cbo being right or ve

connell shane here with the latest on that -- connell mcshane here with the latest. >> reporter: good ability to do so. we're not exactly sure what we can expect. the court has a number of options. they have to decide whether to keep the current objection in place, also look at some broader questions, so we'll try to outline it as best we can. first of all, in short, this is what the administration wants, basically, via the justice department. two things. number one, they have that injunction in place that prevents the ban from taking effect, so they want that lifted. lift the injunction. they'd also like the court to hear, agree to hear oral arguments in the fall looking at the bigger picture, the constitutional issues out there. basically, the president's authority, generally speaking, over immigration. so they want both of those things what the court will do is another question. it's where things get complicated on that. remember, the ban on the six countries, the travel ban, is only for 90 days. theoretically, that time frame could expire before all of this is decided which makes
