connell mcshane live outside of philly in westchester, p.a. connell, what are you hearing on the ground there? reporter: a lot of biden support in this area which isn't very surprising, liz, when you look at the trends of how chester county has been going in recent elections. there was a fox poll that pointed out the support the former vice president has not only among suburban voters but women voters in this state that came out in late july, up 26 with suburban voters in pennsylvania, up 17 with women voters. i would say anecdotally that tracks pretty well with the voters we are speaking to here in this area. it's a wealthy area, it's been going more blue than red in the last decade plus and there's a lot of anti-trump sentiment around here. >> we need leadership and we need somebody with just empathy that can relate to people. i have never once felt that he's ever been able to relate to me. >> i don't appreciate his character. i don't appreciate the way he goes with race divisions. i think he says he's for small government and he isn't. repor

that's where connell mcshane is standing by live. interesting timing, connell.ut what are you hearing from folks in scranton ahead of the big night? reporter: it's a little mixed. it's really interesting. a lot of action here which i guess makes sense, because to your point, the next president of the united states may very well be decided in this part of pennsylvania. i mean, the county that's just to our south, luzerne county, you could argue put donald trump in the white house. he did so well there four years ago and he did better here in the scranton area, lackawanna county, than most republicans have done in the past. it's so union-based here. the democrats used to dominate, win by 20 or 30 points, but president trump only lost to hillary clinton here by three points the last time around. he's hoping to kind of keep that going and in talking to the voters as we have been doing throughout the day, there is support certainly for the hometown guy, biden, but also some support for the message you are likely to hear in the scranton area from president trump, to b

connell mcshane in charlotte right now. , connell, you think about it, rare is it that the candidate nominee will be speaking every day as donald trump just did on day one, every day leading up to the white house speech when he formally accepts the nomination. connell: you talked about it as being an unusual circumstance and it comes in an unusual year and unusual convention. here in charlotte, this city was geared up to host a whole week of festivities that have been dialed back significantly, to the point where although we have a busy day so far of political events in this city, it's pretty much wrapped up its role already in this convention. they had the roll call this morning, president trump's new home state of florida put him over the top so he was officially nominated and will run again for re-election under the republican banner but that's really the only role the city of charlotte, host city of the con engs ha convention, will play in all of this. also quite unusual the president did show up in person to accept the

connell mcshane, what are you hearing?eil, as a part of our swing state tour. we've done five states now in two weeks and finally made it to, i guess, what they call the ultimate swing state here in florida. and, you know, you look at some of the other places we've been, they all voted for president trump the last time around, but they have unique characteristics. for example, north carolina and georgia lean to the red side of things at least historically whereas the state we were in last week, wisconsin and pennsylvania, more blue state tendencies you could argue where florida florida. if you look at the last 12 presidential elections, florida has picked the winner 11 times, went for bush instead of clinton in '92x that was it. '92. speaking of voters in the jacksonville area, we did not, as we did in some of those other states, find a lot of undecided voters. what we did find was a lot of passion on both sides. >> look at the employment has recovered and jobs have come back, and the economy overall with all the numbers.
