connor.illion people are without power right now in the region, approximately 3 million. we've seen crews from our area and all over the country arriving boots on the ground there to help. do you see a lot of aid coming in? no, no, just making sure. >> yes, there has been a huge amount of preparation. fortunately, we've seen this storm coming in florida. obviously, no stranger to these hurricanes. so they brought in linemen, crews from all over the country. this is one of the largest responses in that regard that the state has ever had or ever seen. so those crews basically set up, hunker down and ride out the storm. and as soon as it's safe and the roads are passable, they get out and start working as quickly as possible. but first they have to make sure people are safe, and they have to make sure these roads are clear before they can start repairing. some of those lines and those hard to reach areas. >> fox reporter connor hanson reporting for us in florida. connor. thank you. >> coming up

connor. >> that's right.ard from state officials that parts of this tampa bay region got between ten and 15in of rain, and i believe it because we watched that extreme rain and wind just whipped through this downtown area last night, taking down some of these huge tree branches. but tampa was spared the brunt of this storm, and it made landfall just south of here in siesta key. that's where the storm surge was, and a lot of flooding and all the way up into saint petersburg, which really isn't far from here. but shocking scenes, entire panels of the roof of tropicana field, where the tampa bay rays play were lifted off. and those are supposed to be able to withstand hurricane force wind. there was even a construction crane that fell in saint petersburg. so a lot to be cleaned up here as people sort of move into this search and rescue phase. the governor says more than a hundred operations underway around 50 people have had to be rescued already. >> in addition to all the physical damage and the lives lost. thi
